Serious question. If people leave their affiliate links do your report them?

The reason I ask is because it really bothers me and I see it as a very negative thing. I wonder if you feel there are exceptions to the rule, no affliate or referral links? I was 100% against giving out referral links as it just leads to discussions that are all spammy and not much discussion. So tell me what your thoughts are and please explain your thoughts. Thank you all members.

I don't like receiving the SPAM links. So if affiliate links you're talking about are the ones to someones personal webpage to "Make Money Quick" stuff, yes I can't stand that. It's a really big turnoff to me, unless I've requested information from someone first. I do enjoy when people put a link in the posts that are actually helpful to the discussion. Example: on a recipe discussion a link to a recipe website that someone has tried their recipes, or information website to give directions on how-to-do something, you know what I mean. Those links are good and I enjoy checking them out.

It's amazing how few people actually take the time to leave a useful link that isn't going to make them money. Thanks for your response.

I don't have much referrals, and I don't place any links in my posts or anything. But I don't have problem if people do that. They are asking return for the information they are giving you, so it is upto you whether to take it or not.

I really messed up when I started myLot and gave my profile link to my friends to try and thought it was my affiliate link, so I ended up with zero affiliate. Then I did get two affiliate but they haven't done a thing.

I highly agree. I'm here to discuss things, not to wade through the links trying to get to real conversation.

I don't mind seeing links as long as they lead to assistance about the discussion and not an affiliate link. I really like those links because people took the time to find them without the urge to gain from the link. That is always appreciated. I have a friend and client that gives me links to great articles and discussions and he never gives me an affiliate link. I have had to go back to him and ask him for an affiliate for somethings. But I appreciate friends that don't try to just make a buck on me. thanks Agogos

Starting a discussion just to put up a referral link is against the rules. Period. Mylot is very clear about when those links are permitted. I report at least a few every day, but I'm not sure how much good it does. You could spend your whole day doing nothing but that, and they'd just keep coming.

Hey there UnusualSuspect, that's an Unusual username. :) I think it helps. They may not do anything today about those your report but you can be sure they will be disappointed when they expect to get X amount of money and get zero or very little at all.
