how can some people just abandon their pets?

everyday on my way i see this abandoned dog. he is not stray as it's of a good breed.he is old and have rheumatoide forelegs and walks with much difficulties. perhaps that's why its owner left him.it's really sad to see his situation but this fact makes me even sadder that i m not able to do anything about it. my family would not ever let me do that. for them what's the use of all this sympathy for an animal? i just wonder that how can people leave their pets in such a way specially when they needed them most? is there no value of love and sympathy for such "dog lovers"? how can anyone allow such persons to have pets if they don't take the full responsibilty of their pets?it just sents shivers to my heart!! can any of u people leave ur sick and old dog to die, in this way?

I don't know, I really don't. Maybe they think they have no other choice, but I think that they are cowards for not following through and doing the right thing by their pet. Pets are so loyal to us I don't understand how someone could leave their pet to die that way. It seems to me that they are cowards. They should either take care of that pets health properly or put it down and be merciful. But don't leave the poor thing to suffer for the rest of his days and then just turn it loose so you don't have to watch it happen. That is cowardly.

its really sad to know about this. i can't imagine to leave my pet at any cost. i have never done it before nor will i do such an act. people who are too mean and hrad-hearted can only abandon ones pets. its terrible.

That's sad. You know what? There's actually a way for you to help the poor dog. Go to an animal center somewhere, I'm sure there is, I just don't know what's the right term. Whatever the reason is, it's still not good to abandon a dog especially in that kind of sitch. Tsk tsk. All I can say is People....are.... people...they should be people inside too.

I feel so much accord and even i have seen a cow dieing close to my house it was so heart breaking, how cud people do so? i have seen many stray animals which are domestic earlier but whn they are not gud for anything they have bene left on roads to die of hunger, cold and diesease , i always wished that there cud be some society some trust who cud give shealter to auch animals and i knw some that god willing i will be part of this or may be initiator,but such people shud be punished as its like commitin a crime how cud they consider a living breathing things as some use and throw object , i hope someday there shud be soem rule some law for such people.

I feel so bad for the dogs that have been left out alone in the world with no one to take care of them. How could people be so CRUEL to a living creature. It makes ME SICK!!!!

i simply think that they are not people! they are bad and without heart cause when a person abandon a dog he will day surely but its important to remember also that a dog on a road could cause an accident! However i don't understand it cause there are a lot of shelters for dogs so its really stupid abandon them!
