in los angeles, boyscouts can earn a meret patch for learning about the evils of piracy and the respect of copyright. this program is put out by the riaa and the mpaa. is this a good idea?

I'ts a very bad idea, the big bad (and fat) record companies teaching people not to do piracy. Piracy is a good thing and filesharing should be legalized, the record companies had their chance to make something legal out of before it was to late.
