Difficulty Sleeping

I've never had any problem falling asleep until recently. I'm tired during the day but I'm usually doing stuff so I can't sleep. Then nighttime rolls around and I know I should be tired, but I can't sleep. I'm only getting 5-8 hours of sleep per night, when I used to get 10-12 easily. Any insight on ways to fall asleep more easily, or why I might not be sleeping as much? Thank you all in advance.

I always find that if I've got a lot on my mind, or I've got worries then I will toss and turn for ages and ages and can never get to sleep, my brain won't shut down, I'm churning over what has happened, or what is going on in my life, currently I do not have a job, so it's the worry of money and being able to pay the bills etc... 8 hours sleep is the norm for most people. You could try taking a mug of warm milk up to bed with you, or reading. It may be wise if this continues and it is worrying you to see your doctor. I hope you get things sorted and return to a good nights sleep!

Thanks a lot. I'll give it a try. Been getting a little more sleep lately, just been pretty busy lately. Take it easy.

I think you are getting just the right sleep. 5-8 hours is already good amount of sleep considering that you are adult. 6 hours at least I think for adult is proper. I have that problem sometimes too, what I do is just try to pretend myself as I am very tired and I am sleeping already. I convinced myself that I am tired on my mind and that I am sleeping already. Then all of the sudden, I sleep.

Thanks a lot, useful information. I've also heard that if you try to rid your mind of thoughts you'll fall asleep quicker. Take it easy.
