The reason I have not joined ebay is that they asked me the last time I applied for my credit card details which somewhat put me off, and I went no further, however someone mentioned to me, but he was not quite sure that there is no need to give your details, could some one wise me up if this is correct, and how safe is ebay if there holding your card details.

you shouldnt have to give ebay your credit card info.but you would have to give paypal your bank account number to be able to transfer money.im a ebay member an i didnt give ebay any info about my credit card.if you are going to "pay" for something then you would have to give a credit card to paypal or bank account #.that should be all you need to do.make sure you are on the real ebay website before you give any info out."always type in www". in your browser "never" type "ebay.com" this keep you from going to a fraud website.

If you have a paypal account or similar, then there is no need to provide your credit card information, since you can pay straight from your paypal account. However, it's more convenient for many to pay with their credit cards. Ebay is an online auction site. You have to pay somehow. Millions of people trust ebay and provide their information ... daily. They aren't there to rip you off, they are there to provide you with a service and direct you to a host of sellers all in one place. Yes, your credit card details are safe on ebay.
