outdoor cats could be washed around three to four times a year. they don't really need to be bathed that much because their saliva naturally cleans their fur for them. Indoor cats, really don't need to be bathed much at all, unless they get into something or pee on themselves. I don't bathe my indoor cat...but if he sits ont he edge of the bathtub while i'm having a bath, i sometimes drip water down his back and wet the end of his tail, hehe. He doesn't really notice, and then he's really soft afterwards.

Every cat I've had usually does their own baths, though I did once think we needed to give them their baths. Now too bad my big black lab dog wouldn't keep herself nice and clean!

If you're sane and your cat has teeth and claws, never! But seriously, cats don't really need to be bathed, for the most part. They do a great job of keeping themselves clean, and to them getting wet in a bath just makes more owrk for them, since they have to brush all that har with their tongue all over again. There are times when a cat has to have a bath, such as with certain skin conditiond or after they get into something messy/toxic like motor oil

When my kitty Salem was really little and we first had her we lived next door to a pitbull. I was deathly afraid of letting her outside at all, she was 6 months old before we moved. Anyway she had to use a LITTER BOX and she was so little that everytime she used it she would make a big mess of herself, I ended up washing her 3 or 4 times a day for the first 5 months or so, then she finally got that she was getting stuff(you know what I mean) all over her feet, well she figured out how not to do it. By bathing her for the first 5 months of her life I kinda made her a clean freak, she is extremely clean, and since we now live in a house that is in a nicer area, she can go outside in the day, and she smells better because of that. She get about 2 baths a year and flea medicine once a month, and thats it, she doesn't need anymore than that, so I guess it depends on the cat.

I just splash some water on him when he jumps in the sink. Besides that, I don't really bathe him. He can do that himself.
