i just seen the recent recal for peanut butter and was wondering if that scares youas much as it does me. I use JIF peanut butter so was not affected ,but heck I am scared to eat anything. I am going to be growing my own veggies in my garden this summer and we might try to get some cows . that way we wont be buying anything from a store that has been processed.

I am not familiar with a peanut butter recall, please ost a link or something! Like you, I am becoming afraid to eat anything processed. We used to garden heavily but have fallen off the past two years. This summer I am determined to have a large garden again. It is really scarry the things that are happening to our food. Again, please post some link or something so I can read about the peanut butter recall, we eat peanut butter like crazy in our home!

addendum: I found the story on CNN and finally in our local paper. Beleive it or not, one of the jars in my cabinet had the numbers that are recalled! Thanks for alerting me ..had I not seen your post I likely wouldn't have actively sought info!

I think the only way you can be sure that food is truely fresh and uncontaminated is to grow it yourself and make everything from scratch. its pretty difficult to do that though. I wish you lots of luck in trying and it will be interesting to know how you get on.

i had a small garden last summer just to try it out but this summer i am going to have a huge garden. i had already planned on it but seeing this recal just reinforces my drive to try to be totally self sufficient,

I heard this on the radio today. Yes, it scares me. Peter Pan is the only one my boyfriend will eat. But luckily we had bought the cheap one this time because we low on money. So being poor probably saved me from being sick.

Definitely a plan, it is so much better to provide for yourself and only get that which you cannot. Your diet will improve also and you should begin to feel better too. Flavors also should be more enjoyable. We are in agreement with this. That is why we have 43 acres and developing a family farm and I shall work at market gardening to help others eat and feel better too. Good luck in your endeavors into gourmet dining!!

I saw this recall today. I actually have a jar of Peter Pan Honey roasted peanut butter in my cabinet with those numbers on it. We have almost eaten the whole jar too so that's a little scary to me. We haven't been sick but I'm going to throw the rest of it away and mail in the lid.

I'd love to know about this recall as well. I usually buy Peter Pan! I would love to be able to grow my own veggies, but I live in a small apartment so it's not possible until I can afford a home of my own. I do grow some fresh herbs like basil and cilantro. It tastes much better than from the store!

We were lucky. I purchased two jars of the bad Peter Pan peanut butter at Wal-Mart last week. My husband and I had just enough left in our respective jars that we hadn't yet opened the new jars. They are sitting on my kitchen table right now waiting to be returned to the store. I can honestly say that this is the first time we've ever purchased a product that has later been recalled. Maybe that's why I'm not terribly worried about it.

My husband just finished washing out the empty peanut butter jar and decided to peel off the paper upc label on the lid. Underneath, he found the dreaded code 2111. Now we know why he had such a horrible bout of "stomach flu" last month. It knocked him on his butt for a good 3 days. I've never seen him that sick before. I'm so glad it wasn't worse!

I have a fear of getting sick from food in the first place so this does scare me a bit. I won't even eat yogurt that has old dried up yogurt on the out side of the container or if it is not sealed. My husband thinks I am stupid, but with all of the stuff that goes on, I think I am justified to a certain extent

Wow, you have got your work cut out for you. Good luck. My kids eat peanut butter everyday, thankfully it is not Peter Pan.
