Have you ever noticed a shoe or a slipper lying side of the street?

Yes I have. Where do they all come from? Is it possible that they are all left by drunk people? Is it possible they have all been lost without the owner noticing? Is it possible for so many people not noticing one of their shoes is no longer with them? I really do not understand this. What is the deal with all these discarded shoes on the streets?
