I have used both processors and in today's time I can say that Intel dominates AMD in overall performance. Some say AMD is great for gaming but I say it's better to just show off the benchmarks of both Intel and AMD that's the only time we can see. I used a benchmark on both of the processors of equal caliber and Intel managed to overpower AMD by a significant margin. Even when I like using MAC I'm actually using Intel. My MAC G5's are all powered by Intel.

Well either you have the wrong mac model, or your wrong about the chip maker. The maker of the G5 is not intel at all but rather IBM. Mac has not gone to Intel for their new processors, leaving IBM in the dust due to speed restrictions, but G5's were IBM, the last of the IBM's in fact. Now you might have a MacPro that uses Intel, they looked similar to the Mac G5's, a large grey tower, the intel's have two optical drive bays instead of the one optical drive bay in the G5

Primarily I am an IBM G5 user, as I run a Mac G5 at work. Although I am supposed to be getting a new Intel based MacBook to use instead (can't wait, I miss having a laptop), but I have to wait for approval first. At home I use a AMD, but I don't use the home computer nearly as much as my Mac at work.

m a huge AMD fan. Never have owned an Intel in my life. MOstly because as you say AMD has ALWAYS been bettter for gaming... That has changed though. The Core 2 Duo is the premier processor for EVERYTHING at the moment. I'm sure AMD will counter back soon, but if you want a new system now, the Intel Core 2 Duo is the way to go... I am still torn, because for my new system I am looking at both. My loyalty puts me @ AMD, but my gaming sense puts me at Intel, so it's tough.. I'll probably break my rule though and go Intel.. b/c performance wise the C2D can't be beat right now.

I'm an AMD user since the AMD Athlon64 is superior to the Intel Pentium 4 and those were my choices when I built my PC 2 years ago. AMD was the performance leader for over 4 years. If I were to build a computer today, I would choose the Intel Core 2 Duo since that beats the Athlon64 in every benchmark. My laptop which I bought recently uses an AMD Turion64 processor because Intel laptops include crappy Intel graphics which are useless for gaming. AMD laptops include ATI or NVidia graphics which are much better.

i prefer AMD since i am using one.I use AMD because --comparatively cheap --high performance --high stabilty --greater support for gaming i recommned AMD FX 64 bit computing. It has many advantage over intel pentium 4 processors.but i heard that intel pentium duo core2 is much better than other precedures and a like performance with AMD 64.so i f you are going to buy a new computer either you go for AMD FX 64 or Pentium 4 Duo core 2.
