Peter Jackson and the Hobbit. . .

How does everyone feel about the whole scandal between New Line and Peter Jackson? Last I read New Line said Peter Jackson could go fly a kite and they would go on without him. I know a lot of people who are devastated by this news and are already boycotting the film if Jackson isn't involved. How about you? What do you think? Will you still watch the Hobbit if Jackson doesn't work on the project? Could it be as good, or even better without him?

After watching the trilogy of "The Lord Of The Rings", I must admit that Jackson did a brilliant job. Will "The Hobbit" be as good if he doesn't work on it? I don't know, to be honest. I know that I would have loved to see Ridley Scott carry on with the sequels to "Alien", as they are quite disappointing compared to the first in the series. Hey wait! Why not have Ridley Scott direct "The Hobbit"? Now, how does that sound? ;)

I'd prefer that Jackson do The Hobbit, but I certainly wouldn't boycott it if a good director replaced him. I love Ridley Scott's movies, but I think maybe somebody like Guillermo del Toro might be the best for The Hobbit.

that scandal is another reason that there is no work going on regarding all the 3 LORT movies and converting them to HD - DVD or next gen DVD format. I would go watch hobbit even though PJ would not be assciated since i am a big LOTR fan and i would love to see it how they would have screwed up the hoobit movie. though i have yet to read the hobbit.

I was surprised to read that Newline would not have Peter Jackson direct. I think it's kind of stupid on their part. I don't think it will be as good without him, but I will watch it.

I'd like Jackson to be involved, because he did a great job on LOTR. But all in all...I wish they'd just get on with it. They've been promising this for like 5 years now, and I'm impatient.

I think Peter Jackson did an splendid job with the LotR movies. However, if he doesn't want to do the Hobbit (which he's repeatedly said he doesn't), I wouldn't want him to direct it. It wouldn't be the same if he didn't have the passion for it that he had for LotR. I like the idea of Guillermo del Toro, especially after seeing Pan's Labyrinth. I definitely think another director could do an equally excellent job, if not better. Look at the improvement in the Harry Potter movies after they got Alfonso Cuaron onboard.
