A 70 year old man's body was found in his home more than a year after his death. The body was found when police were called to deal with burst waterpipes. Here is the full news story. http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/02/17/america/NA-ODD-US-Long-Dead-Man.php Can this happen in your country? Does this mean we do not care about our neighbours?

The unfortunate thing is that these things can happen. Why does it happen, nobody knows. It seems that many are more concerned with their own lives and focus on that rather than the lives of others.

I'm surprised no one noticed him missing for a whole year. He had to have family, right? It's scary to know that situations like this can happen.

He was diabetic and generally sick. It is hard to imagine a person so isolated that he is not missed for a whole year. Tragic is the word I had in mind.

Wow, an entire year. Sad, you think the neighbors or the postal service would of noticed something out of sorts. It is hard to imagine living in a neighborhood or not having any family members checking in to make sure that everything was fine. What about the untilities not being paid or the meters read. You would think someone would of picked up on the grass not being cut or seeing the man walking around. Our society is becoming so distanct and detached it is a sad state of affairs.

As hard as this is to beleive it can happen. People do not pay much attention to thier neighbor in most neighborhoods. Everyone has their own lives to lead and so it is an exception when you find one that eveyone knows each other and are friends. Sense he had no family or they never checked on him sure I can beleive it. This could happen to a man but I doubt it ever would happen to a women. They are too social. But it is a horrable shame that this could happen to anyone.

I think it just means we live a more isolated existence. I don't really want my neighbours spying on me, but my friends who live a fair bit further a way know a lot about me. I think it's just that our society is changing.
