What is the best way to spot quality posts on Mylot quickly ?

I haven't been here long and in this short time I came across some very good topics but at times I had to work my butt off to get them.So I have decided to add people who consistently come up with good discussions. That's my way of spotting quality posts without getting frazzled. What's your way ? Do you find it hard or easy to come across good discussions ? Do you sometimes get tired and think you should give more stars to people constantly spawning thought provoking ideas? Would it help if mylot builds a list of top discussion starters just like they have a list of top-referrers?

Sometimes quality posts really come from members of your same interests for you can really relate with thier discussion as well as can share your views and ideas on it. My friends are good source of quality discussion for you will never be afraid that someday it will be deleted by myLot when they do clean up and eventually affects your rating and your earning as well. Choosing a quality discussion is like choosing a good member too! you are hitting 2 birds on one stone with that. If I finds one member to be interesting and post credible answer I go to his profile and browse some of his discussion and sometimes there are more than 3 discussions which I can post my respond.

I think you made several very good points here.In fact, one of those just happened to me.I posted in a discussion from the hot topic section and thereafter posted on one of his friend's discussions,2 or 3 of them. Now, after 10 minutes he is my friend too :-)I will check your friend's list for good posts.Thanks.

I have adopted the same strategy as you did and only add consistently good posters as friends. It is much easier to find good topics you feel like responding to when you go to 'Discussions my friends started'. I occasionally browse the 'Hot Topics' to discover more of those good posters.

I do sometimes find it difficult to spot quality posts. The "todays hot topics" are only the ones with a lot of answers, which does not necessarily indicate that it is a good discussion. Some people type in QQA as a tag for Quality Question and Answer. If you type that into the search bar up the top, you should find some of them. I don't know how often people still do that though! I also often begin with discussions from my interests and look at those which have been started most recently. I often find quality discussions that way and I also end up finding more discussions underneath, where it says similar discussions. The only problem with that is that sometimes I end up gioving basically the same answers to some things.

Wow! I love this exchange! QQA-I'd definitely remember this and if it throws up good ones ,then I'd make it a point to add it as tag to the good ones I read. Now, that is another way of rating a discussion! Using a good tag to flag it,in a positive way of course.Thanks,pumpkinjam.I think ,I should get started with compiling a booklet with the info I have here, lol.Naah, just kidding :-D

Some days it's kind of hard but other days there are alot of new quilty discussions. I just look for ones I might know something about, and aren't just "what color do you like?". I also don't reply to the joke ones and rarely read them. I have read a few thinking they were a real topic then found out as I was reaing that they are just jokes.

For me, I would like to find that in "today's top discussion" . Usually, the topicd there have a lot of responses, that's mean you can interact with more people. How about others?

I've tried that but at times I don't find posts that make you want to post. The good ones that I got so far have mostly come from some of my friends or by using the search function.

I usually stick to discussions that my friends started, and also the top discussions of the day. That tends to keep me more than busy, and it's usually where I find most of the best discussions on Mylot. Of course, no matter where you look you're going to find some duds, but it's the same thing with anything anywhere. I tend to respond more than posting discussions of my own, but if I'm really struggling to find something to respond to, I'll try and come up with my own discussion and take a break for an hour or two. That way, whren I come back, I'm usually guaranteed something to read, even if it's just responses to my discussion lol.

lol I should try it.When my mind and fingers give up ,I would pop up a discussion.Yes,I too keep myself to friend's discussions and have started turning towards the hot topics when my friends are busy responding elsewhere. I'll try to think of atleast 10 topics in my free time today. That should keep me free for 10 days, lol.

I have a harder time now than I did in the beginning to find top discussions. I start with trying to find something from the ones that responded to my discussions. Then I try to find new discussions from my friends. Sometimes I search a specific subject. Most of the time it is me not the discussions. There are days my brain just doesn't have much to respond to. I do shoot for the ones with the 10 stars.

I ,too, have had few blank days on Mylot. On those days I can't even answer to good discussions only to come back the next day and respond to the same discussions while asking myself 'Was it me or was it...me'? lol

I tend to start with discussions my friends started. I can usually come up with some great ones that way. then I like to go down to the bottom of a discussion I just reponded to and check out the similar discussions. That is how I cam across this discussion. I can usually go about 5 or 6 depths doing this. I mean, I find one I like and then using the similar discussions, I can find about 5 or 6 more that a decent discussions but different enough to make them interesting to answer. I rarely find much in the new discussions or discussion with no responses sections but I do still check there. ususally I skip the first couple of pages and get to the ones that were started a little earlier. I also sometimes pick one of my friends, who I know starts good discussions, and I will go to their profile and just start going through all the discussions they started. I can usually respond to 5 discussions pretty quickly this way, and I feel that I was able to take part in some great discussions. I try to pick a new friend each time, that way I am supporting all of my friends. It may take a while but I do eventually get to them all.

Ah,yes,I see what you are saying.Inadvertently,I ,too, have done this on several occassions-responding to a discussion and scrolling down to find discussions of similar kind ,but discerning enough to make me want to contribute. Thanks for bringing it to my conscious knowledge. Now,I have a fair idea about picking the good ones quickly. It's amazing how much we can learn when we have the right intentions.Thanks,Sunnypup.

Aww now I feel honored we are friends..hehehe For me, just as you, If their consistency with topics are interesting, I normally add them myself. I use to go through the many of posts, however, I know with the people on my friendlist, yourself included, I know I'm guaranteed to find topics within my friends I enjoy responding too... Other than that, If a post catch my eye, I will respond other than that I know my friends on my list will come up with good quality, fun posts...

I think your way of finding the best topics for discussion is a good one, i.e that you add people to your friends lists as it's much easier to find topics that you are interested in. You're totally right in that it takes a long time to find decent topics otherwise, and to be honest I don't actually think that just because a topic is in Hot Topics actually makes it a good one. Just because lots of people reply, doesn't make the subject matter good.

True, sometimes easy-to-answer discussions find their way into hot topics.Yeah, with more friends I am finding it relatively easier to spot good discussions these days.Only during weekends it's little slow and then I search in discussions where friend's have responded.

In fact I think the quality of a post by how many people reply the discussion,if there are about 40 replies, then I will want to have a try.But sometimes I found I don't like their discussion, heheeeeeee

I think you have to be around with the right people, because usually the good discussions came from the very same sector of people and the bad ones as well came from the other, in fact it's not even about good/bad discusions I think it's just a matter of taste, most people like chatting simple and perhaps really funny things to them and others (like me by example) like a little more profound conversation or so, but I can't judge what "better" I only know whats better to me :D
