Do you play the lottery?

My husband, as manager of a convenience store, sells a lot of lottery tickets and scratch off tickets. Some people are regular customers who come in just to buy tickets. One man came in a bought 5 $30 tickets, scratched them off to see if he won, cashed in some and bought more. Man oh man! A woman at my work buys them regularly also, but if she wins, she puts back the winnings to buy future tickets with. She's won $50 and one time $500. I've never bought many tickets, so I guess that is why I've never won anything. lOL! It sure would be fun to win a lottery though!

I never buy them either. I have in the past but I would only spend maybe 5 dollars at a time. I had no luck so I never buy them anymore. maybe I should. I can`t win if I don`t play.

My mother would always join the sweepstakes too, and would say, "Somebody has to win. Why can't it be me?" LOL! good point..of course, it hasn't happened yet.

I am too frugal with my money to gamble it away. We do occasionally by a powerball or state lottery ticket. There are a few times when I will buy a scratch off ticket, but it is only when I am with a friend. I buy one! I usually double my money and cash it in. The clerk is puzzled by the fact that I do not cash it in for more tickets. I figure, I am up a buck, all is good.

Heheh .. me too .. if I ever buy a scratchy it's to share with a friend .. any winnings are immediately 'divvied' up .. and if we lose .. well that's that .. we never buy another one in the hope of recouping monies already lost ..

The store I work at there is one guy who spends almost 80 dollars a week on lottery tickets. I never bought any tickets, but I'm kinda tempted to see if I could win something good.

I used to when it first started in the UK .. and oddly every other week I managed to win £10 (the smallest payout) .. then at just about the 4 months mark I stopped winning .. and gave up playing another few months later .. The odds are so high that you will win anything significant that I'd rather spend the money on horse race gambling .. at least I know I am sure to win something .. and generally make a small profit weekly ..

I agree, it would be super cool to win the lottery! I just haven't played though, other than an occasional one here and there, so I guess no lottery for me. But it's a really wonderful thing to dream about, isn't it? What WOULD I do with lots of money?

I buy a few here and there. I have won a few dollars once in a while. I have never won big.You are right it would definitely be fun to win big.But some people play hundreds and hundreds of dollars. I would have the money spent elsewhere.

I've only played a handful of times, usually going in as a group with others. I always thought it was just a waste of money.
