Guys, I just had to share this really cute story with you. There's a dog in China who actually takes money to the local shops (all of whom know him well by now) and will buy his own sausages. He won't drop the money until he is given the food, and he also knows the difference between a piece of white paper and real money, so he wouldn't take the wrong thing to the store. Isn't this an adorable story? You can see a picture of the dog with the money in his mouth (and the rest of the news story) here: http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_2209106.html What do you think? Isn't this dog awesome? ^_^

haha! could be! no more groceries when it gets home. but there are really smart trained dogs around who won't eat anything unless their handlers or owners put the food on their own bowls.

LOL, yajiaren! I am the one who posts the funny and quirky news stories, but I do think that you may have me confused with someone else who posts recipies. I've never posted a single one in my entire time here. I'm anything but a cook, let me tell you. I've rarely cooked a single thing in my life. But I love cute news stories, and especially ones about animals! Thanks for enjoying my posts! ^_^

Wow that is so great but I am glad that my Dog does not do that lol as he would never bring them Home he would eat them there and then. His favourite Treats are Sausages and Ham lol. When I come home from Shopping he will go through the Bags to see if I have bought him anything and if he finds it he will sit nice lol as he wants it there and then.

that's really cute. here in the philippines, i have heard and seen on tv a dog or 2 who do this, too. but they don't buy sausages. their handlers trained them to go to the market once a week to do the buying of some vegetables there. the dog bring a basket with him, with the list of what to buy and a money, too. the dog has a regular store to go to and the owner already knows the dog and so, it's like a routine for both of them already. i find such stories cute, too and very interesting. i also find it nice to hear stories about dogs going to the restrooms and pee there. cute cute.

I'll be smiling all day about that one, shywolf! :) That pooch and his trick can make a person think philosophically, "If spending money is so easy that a dog can do it, why is saving a little money so hard?"...

This is so cute! I wish dogs could do things like that in this city, but somebody'd probably kidnap it or think it was a stray and report it. Still very cute. I wonder how it tells the difference between money and plain paper that has other writing on it?

It is true, with the right motivation, animals can be well trained. Shoot, for a really good sausage, you could possibly even get me trained to do something.LOL

That? Is great. Dogs are amazingly intelligent and can be taught to do all sorts of things. That dog would make an amazing aide dog to the disabled, seriously. That's exactly the sort of aptitude and intelligence that's looked for. But really, thank you for sharing this! I love hearing about things like this.

I have to tell you shywolf I honestly go straight to the "discussions my friends started" when I come onto mylot. I know after a really rough day I can always count on you to have a few great stories to share with us. They bring me up so much after a hard day at work. I soooo look forward to when I can retire and just spend the day reading your stories. :-) Thank you so much.

We used to live in a rural town, in a house with a huge area of dirt along the front. Across this dirt from our house was a butcher shop. My Maltese terrier would go across several times a week and visit. Of course she would bring home the gifts given to her. At some point roadwork began and pretty soon there was a highway outside my front door, sloping up to the right to a T-section and down to the left to a roundabout. Lots of huge trucks travelled this highway. Imagine my horror one day, hearing lots of air brakes being heavily and hastily applied and dashing out to see what the trouble was to see two big trucks trying to stop as they came down the hill because my Pixie was dragging a bone almost as big as she was across the road. Three butchers were standing outside their back door and laughing uproariously. It's amazing the power a cute puppy can have.

That's so cool! It's like the story about the family that has this Penguin in Japan or something like that. The penguin has a little bookbag and waddles off to the fish market. The owner feeds him a fish and puts one in the bag. Then the penguin brings it home to the family. I love animals.

even i found that story really cute. however i usually take such stories with a pinch of salt. i mean how did the owner know that the dog knew what he was doing. did the owner just decide one day to start giving money to the dog. did the shopkeeper magically know that the dog wanted sausages only and nothing else. what if the sausages were over. who would cook the sausages. quite a few unanswered questions. but being a dog lover myself i liked the story. i just hope it was not made up for the owner to get media attention
