I am not one that could take the kind of time it would take to raise such a child. I have raised mine to be as independent as they could be at each step. If they were stuck and forever a child I do not think I could be the one. So many disadvantages and money and time needs that it is not something I would ever do. I wouldn't mind the chance to prevent it. Barring that is would be adopting out time.

NEVER. If God chose me to be the parent of a mentally challenged child, so be it. He chose me for a reason. I will not back down from that responsibility. The world has an increased awareness and understanding of people with special needs now. It will be hard, but manageable to raise a child with special needs.

yes,as parents we have a great responsibility to our child.we chose to have them so we should be responsible enough to be a parent.itmay be tough, weneed a lot of patience so we should pray at all times.

definitely no. i believe that God is the only one who has the right to take lives. if my child would be mentally-ill, so what? does it make a difference? that little angel inside my womb is still my child, no matter what. i would raise her full of love and affection. i would try all my might to give the best medical treatment. because, he/she is my child. God gives him/her to me

No, I know lots of people with mental illneses and other disabilities like that. I, myself, have a physical disability. They kid would go to talk therapy, take meds for whatever illness he or she had, as long as their weren't severe side effects, join a support group, and spend a lot of time with people with various disabilities and illnesses.

i'm glad people here are against abortion..it is a mortal sin to kill and if itwould be like you are a killer if you decided to do that.they have the right to live too, they didn't want to be born with illness,so we should nurture them when they will be born andgive them the love and care they need.

To abort a child is a heinous crime in society which is prevalent in our society. most couples are doing such sinful act when they find that baby girl is going to be borne. in my point of view there must be a law under constitution that if she aborts she should be punished, there would be no mercy in this matter. Secondly who i am to kill the mentally or physically ill baby boy or girl before birth. in a scientific era, there are lot of methods to cure this disorder. he / she has the right to born and we should appreciate those parents who gives birth and should be awarded too so that others can take a lesson.
