Dreams and how they affect us.

Just before I woke up this morning I had one of the most horrendous dreams I've ever had... I dreamt that we (husband, myself and our son, CJ) were driving in car at highway speed. We came upon a large heavy coat lying in the middle of the road. As we drove over it, I heard my son(who's 8 and has Autism)say, "I'll get it..!" He had thought it was his daddy's coat. I saw him open the back door; he always puts his own seatbelt on but it wasn't secured around him, unless he quickly unfastened and I hadn't noticed...Then he stepped out and fell into the road..! I screamed, it happened so fast and Mark hadn't realized anything. I grabbed the wheel and we did a 360 in the road. I screamed again and said that CJ had fallen out the door. As we were heading back(at a snails pace; stupid dreams...) I could see my son at the side of the road on his stomach. As we got closer he was on his back and trying to get up but was convulsing in pain. He always tells me, "I'm sorry, mommy...", when he's sick. He doesn't like to be sick or get hurt so he tries to 'suck it up'... Well, the dream ended abruptly after I saw him writhing in pain and yet trying to get up. It's almost midnight here and I'm still crying about it...His special ed class went on a Field trip to Target and IHOP today and I made sure that I went along with them on the bus. I wasn't going to take any chances. I held his hand throughout the day and made sure he looked both ways when we crossed with traffic, etc. And of course, today was my birthday...What a present, huh? Has anyone else had a horrendous dream that freaked them out and still can't get out of their mind?

First, let me say HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Dreams - I think all of my life I have suffered from horrid dreams, ones that will always be in the back of my mind. The last few years I haven't had as many but when I do they are usually ones where "someone" is in my house and it frightens me so I beleive they are bad. One night I woke and was convinced someone was in the house. I got up and searched every room, closet, cupboard, anyplace someone might hide. I checked all the doors and windows and all were locked. I went back to my bedroom and setting in the middle of my bed I started reading the bible outloud. My son was about 10 at the time and got up to go to the bathroom. When he passed my door he looked in and asked, "Are they here again?" I don't know how he knew but he came in and laid at the end of my bed while I read and eventually we both fell asleep. I haven't had one of those dreams since that night.

Thank you very much for the birthday wishes...Your story brought back a memory for me, back to when I was married to the kid's (my two grown) dad... We were in our early twenties and had recently given our lives over to The Lord, accepting Him as our personal Saviour; we were so 'on fire' for Him at the time... Well, one night we were about to go to sleep or had just drifted off after saying prayers together, when all of a sudden we felt the most evil presence in room with us. We had a heater vent at foot of bed, that when you walked close to it the floor would creak. It started creaking, as if something were pacing back and forth at the foot of our bed. Our baby boy was in other room in his crib, and I was so scared for him; wanted to run and get him but was frozen to the bed. All we could do was pray out loud and rebuke whatever evil was there. It seemed like we prayed for a long time; eventually falling asleep. We had to trust in Him to keep us safe. Satan doesn't like it when people give their lives over to The Lord and he tries his best at times to scare them back to him instead...

First of all, Hope you have a wonderful birthday! I wish you and your family happiness. I have come to believe in dreams. Sometimes you see things in dreams that are possible in the future, so please be careful. I have had dreams that were based on reality.

First of all, belated Happy Birthday! Lately my dreams have been about my kids, but they are younger. I think that in my subconcious mind I am wishing they were back at that simple age when they didn't have all the problems they are dealing with today. The worst thing that happens is they get a cut that needs stitches. There is usually a lot of blood, crying and pain, but I can handle it and it gets resolved. Today, I can't handle the worries. There is nothing I can do to help.

I can understand what you're saying; I have two grown children and I worry about them but I let them be and get in touch with me when they can. I know they love me. We just have to keep them and their families in our prayers. There have been many times when I wished I could go back again to when they were young and do sooo many things differently, but, alas - we cannot...

I use to have some repeating nightmares until i told my mom about them and she explained that they were things that had happened to me at the age of 3 and 5 months. They were constant every night dreams then when I found out what they were, I did not have them anymore. Have you seen 'Pet Cemetery'? While pregnant i fell asleep on the couch. I was home alone and it was the wee morning hours. I woke up sitting bolt upright looking at the TV at the precise moment Gage gets hit by the transfer truck. It was SOOOO scary! I could not sleep and cried for hours. (Remember i was preg. so hormones!) I check all the doors and windows and turned on every light in the house. i have never been that scared of being alone before or since.

I can usually watch spooky movies; I tell myself, they're not real. But, 'Pet Cemetery' almost gave me nightmares when I first saw it. Glad that nothing happened to your baby during the pregnancy; babies can feel so much in the womb.
