Lushing your pets :)

February 22, 2007 10:41am CST
I have heard lots of Lushies say they wash dogs and sometimes cats with Lush, Im wondering about this as we are helping my good friend wash her puppy for the 1st time at the weekend and want to know of anyone has any reccomendations or anything to steer clear from! Im thinking about shampooing her in Tramp, what do you think?

Ditto! My cats always looks very nervous when entering the bathroom, and will scarper at the merest mention of water! The only thing she has to do with water is drinking it.

It's not a good idea to wash your pet with anything other than pet shampoo. The reason is that Lush's nice essential oils and scents can be very bad for animals when ingested, who tend to lick themselves clean. Also, dogs' skin tends to be a lot drier than ours, so it may be too drying for the pet leading to increased dander. So to be on the safe side, I'd say nix the Lush for the pet and use it yourself instead!

Thats why Im posting really, I know the pet shampoos are very very mild. I wonder why they have to smell so bad ;( I think my friend has special puppy shampoo, so thats probably even milder :) Thanks for reply!

My cat would spaz if I tried to wash her, I think I would end up wasting too much lush in the process. But wouldn't it be lovely to have a kitty that smelled like HIWTK? Yum.

I wash my dog in slightly diluted Tramp Shower gel. he loves bathtime (tail keeps on wagging and won't stop) and he comes up very shiny and smelling gorgeous afterwards. it seems to keep his skin in great condition too. he gets a bath when he gets a bit scurfy, and it clears up afterwards. to be honest, there are a lot of really unpleasant chemicals in dog shampoos (ex dog groomer) and after reading the ingredients lists I tend to put them back on the shelf. we had a dog that developed leukimia because of the chemicals in dog food, back before we really knew much about it. been very careful with dogs and chemicals ever since. I think washing a dog too regularly can be a problem, but Finn gets one or two baths a year, depending how his coat is, or if he gets something smelly on him. so basically, I wash my Lurcher in Tramp. it makes him soft, shiny and fragrant

whilst it sounds nice I would steer clear. Dogs dont really need bathing anyway IMHO a smelly coat is usually indicative of a poor diet 9exlcuding of course rolling in fox poo but I have heard that the best way to remove that is tommy K)
