If a man is on the elevator, will you get in? If you are in there alone, and one gets in, would you stay or get out?

I would go ahead and get on.All people in the world are not bad, but then there are some psychos,so it would make me feel a little weird.I would be very cautious.

I would not get in I would either take the Stairs or wait for it to come back again. If I was in the Elevator and a Man got in and I was alone yes I would get out. I would never be anywhere alone with a strange Man, so far I have been able to avoid it and I hope I always will, but I do have my reasons for that in case anyone thinks I am strange.

I would stay. I am not afraid of men. It would also depend on what time of the day it was, and what neighborhood it was in. There are many factors to this.

Usually, I will get in or if one gets in and I am in already, i will stay. If he gives me the once over with his eyes, I am out of there faster then he can look. Used to be no worries but anymore, one cannot be too careful.

I would get on or stay on but I would definitely be more nervous . I don't like the elevator as it is already without having to get on with someone I don't know .

I never really thought about that. I wouldn't be scare though because people come in and out of elevators all the time.

I know these kinds of problems are happening more and more. Seems like women have to have a 6th sense and eyes in the back of her head these days! It is an awful feeling having to be on the defensive all the time! For me it would depend on where I was and what the man looked like. If it was a skinny little 90 year old man then I would stay, but if my instinct warned me of possible trouble, I would pretend I forgot something and walk back out the elevator, but hopefully not show any fear.

I guess I am too trusting. Because I have ridden an elevator alone with a man. But it was also in a place that was very public and I felt safe. I never stopped to think about it really. But I am sure that if I was faced with a situation that I felt questionable, I probably would not be in the elevator with him.

I do not use them often, and I guess I just do not pay attention. If I need to use the elevator, I do, with a man, with a woman, with a crowd. Am I too oblivious?

Of course I get onto the elevator. I look him in the eye as I do since by 'seeing' him you lessen the chance that he will attack you. Thieves and attackers usually don't like to be seen. I am pretty assertive anyway so don't walk like a victim or talk like on and pretty much am on awares whenever I am out and about anyway. Never know either if he might have something interesting to say. Everyone has a story!

it depends on how many floors i have to go on with him.. if its a tall building (over 30 floors), i would wait. i would probly not make eye contact and keep to myself.

Very interesting topic! It all depends on where I'm at if it's in a busy building where you would expect it to stop at many floors and take on more people, i.e. hospitals, offices, department stores etc. then yes. Apartments buildings that are pretty old it would depend of what the man looked like as there are some really weird folks hang around these kind of buildings but if my friends lived on the top floor I might take a chance if he looked OK but I'd stand right next to the alarm button.

I honestly don't think I'd pay any attention if a man got on the elevator alone with me. I'd stay in there until it got to the floor I needed to get to.

I would get in and stay in. My worst experience was when I was going to court for a stolen car and my friend with with me for support. We were waiting outside to get on the elevator and it stopped and it was going up and we needed to go down. My friend and I stepped to enter the elevator when the doors opened. I stepped in the elevator and my friend said wait that is going up get out. It was too late doors shut and I was going UP with guy going to court. That was the longest ride of my LIFE. The guy was very sweet and said to me do not worry I will not hurt you. I acted brave and said Oh I never even would have thought you would. I said the only one that is going to get hurt is my friend who is waiting for this elevator to get were he is. I was so nervous when those doors shut and I was alone in the elevator with this strange guy. My heart was beating so fast I thought I would get a heart attack. It was a learning experience because I am not afraid anymore.

I guess I never stopped to question getting on or off an elevator if a man is on or is getting on. I will bet you that the next time an elevator door opens I will take note of who is on it,

it all depends on where I am if I will get on an elevator with someone alone, if I was already in alone I would make sure I was by the side that had the numbers provided there it was not a two sided button for the floors

This is something I have never thought about before. I ride the elevators at the hospitals and librarys. I realy have no fear of being in an elevator alone with a man. It never crossed my mind to leave or not enter if there is only one man in one. I don't think that I will change this behavour. If I was in a scary neighborhood I might though.

Whether or not I get on or stay on would depend upon the building, the man, how busy of an elevator it is, presence of cameras and other things! For the most part, I would get on/stay on. I know you can't judge a book by its cover, but I would try to judge the man. You only have split second to make that decision though! I agree with an earlier poster who said that she would make eye contact. A lot can be judged by the person's eyes. Good question margie!
