In honor of the Academy Awards tomorrow, I wanted to get opinions on how folks like to cook and prepare or purchase the popular movie-watching treat. For me, I am a huge fan of hot kettle corn, with a preference for the standard hot buttered flavored popcorn you get at the movies. What about you? How do you like to prepare your popcorn? Do you prefer kettle corn, airpopped, microwaved or on the stove? What's your favorite flavor? plain, salted, buttered, with caramel or other flavors? Share your favorites.

i'm not a big popcorn fan. at the theaters, if i must have it, i'd prefer salted over buttered any day. at home, i like the microwaved popcorn with sprinked (shredded) parmesian and roman cheese. It is also good if you roll it in butter + cinnamon, or butter + chocolate. Yum yum!

I use the light butter microwave popcorn, then I put it in a bowl and add REAL butter to it. That's my total favorite way to eat popcorn. Once in a while, I like to sprinkle some parmesan cheese on it.

We make the microwave fat free popcorn. You will probably laugh at what I like to season it with! I love spicy food, particularly mexican food. I like to sprinkle taco seasoning mix on my popcorn!! It is yummy! Open a tall corona, put in a slice of lime...and I'm ready to watch the awards!

LOL - I'm lazy, do the microwave cheap stuff and then add some "real butter" to dress it up. Works just fine for me and just through the bag away when I'm done :) really really lazy.

I love flavored popcorn, and my favorite might just be either kettle corn (because of the way that the salty mixes with the sweet) or toffee popcorn. Back when I was in college, there was a store near campus that just made specialty popcorn. They had everything from green apple popcorn to blue raspberry. If you wanted to hang out at the store, they had this amazing popcorn bar where you could just sit and pour whatever dry toppings you wanted onto your popcorn. It was all pretty good, but the fresh kettle corn was the absolute best!

I don't eat popcorn. In fact, going to the theater is something of a hardship because I'm so allergic to corn that the smell can make me sick. Whenever possible, I try to rush thru the lobby to get to the auditorium & away from the popcorn smell.

That must make your trips to the movie theatre very difficult indeed!! I hope you have a snack that you bring with you into the theatre.

I like it with lots of salt and some butter. My husband likes kettle corn, which I think is okay.

There is nothing that can compare with Hot Buttered Popcorn when I got to the movies. I Love my popcorn there, even if it is expensive. Yes, I also Love Kettle Corn and enjoy that when like at Fairs as well. Popcorn is also nice popped up and then add some Seasoning salt to it for flavor as well. To me, a lot of it depends on where I am at, and my Mood, but when I am at the Movies it better be Hot Buttered popcorn or the Movies are not worth watching.

i love salted buttered popcorn. plain has no flavor. caramel or other sweet popcorns are just gross, in my opinion. they are just too sweet. one time i went to the movies with a friend and she ordered caramel popcorn for both of us. i just didnt enjoy it at all..i need my salty, buttery popcorn if im sitting and watching a movie!

Personally I like mine a slighly bit with a charred flavor along with my traditional buttery flavor, as if it's slightly burned. That way the kernels don't get stuck in your teeth. I kinda extend the popcorn cooking range to have that "controlled char" taste, but not too much to burn it up. Even I don't like the smell of burnt popcorn. I like it buttery with a controlled charring flavor.

At home we use an air-popper for our popcorn and just add salt. But when we go to the movies, they have it where you can add the melted butter and seasoned salt yourself...so I stand there forever adding butter and salt to my big 'ol bag of popcron, then shake it up so it bets on all the popcorn!! Yummy!!

I have not been to the movies in many years. However, I really miss the theatre pop corn they sold when I went. Back then it was pop corn popped in one of those square glass boxes. I always got butter on mine and plenty of it! I really miss that. Now, when I go to Ocean City, Maryland, they have this stand there where they sell what is known as Kettle Corn and it is sooooo delicious. It is a mixure of popped corn that has a salty and sweet coating. I wish they sold that around here. Forget the awards, I will just take the pop corn.

I like my popcorn to be microwaved and the flavor has to be cheese! If I can't really get cheese flavored popcorn, I'd often want popcorn covered with caramel.
