What do you sell the best when you sell on ebay or some where else online? I seem to do ok with books I have read. I mean instead of letting them sit on your self why not sale them right.

I have two ebay accounts - one for business and one for personal use. On the business one the best seller is vinyl records. On my personal one it's cosmetics - I tried selling books but never had any luck with it. I use Amazon to sell all my old books now.

Cosmetics are mainly end of line Max Factor/Lancaster/Cover Girl. The records (and CD's) are all sorts from 1960's to now but I would say the majority of records are '70's/'80's. I also sell at record fairs in the UK. There are thousands of them but only a fraction on Ebay so far.

Meant to add a bit about Amazon - I've sold quite a lot of books on there (it's easy to do) but have found the ones that sell best are text books/reference books or anything a bit unusual. I don't usually bother listing standard paperback novels because some of the big sellers on there list them really cheaply so it's really not worthwhile.

Yep! selling books is the best thing. because some people are looking for books, and if you don't need yours, you can just sell them. that's my opinion anyway ^^'

It is a long time since I sold anything online Shaun, mainly because I have heaps of other things to do, but have quite a collection of stuff that I must get around to listing one day this year. The big thing is that we do like travelling and often will decide on the spur of the moment that we will go somewhere for a few days or weeks and if I had things listed on eBay that wouldn't be possible. LOL Books are one good thing, because once you have finished with them, you might as well get some of the money you spent on them back plus of course it does help the budget I am certain. The other thing that seems to sell well are children's clothes and toys, but of course it depends on what you have access to. I know that here in Australia a number of sellers buy things from the local Op/Opportunity Shops (think they are called Thrift Shops in other countries) and then resell them. So, while the seller makes a few dollars, the buyer can get something for their child that they might not otherwise be able to afford. I have also noticed that Tupperware is a big seller for some people, and again that is one thing that it seems a lot of people want. Basically, I think there is a market for almost anything on eBay, and someone will want what you have for sale, providing it isn't too expensive that is. I do know a couple of people who make a reasonable amount of money from selling on eBay. Certainly it isn't the same as a paid job, but they are actually better off because they don't have the costs associated with going out to work. Good luck with future sales Shaun and I hope that you can find many more treasure to sell. :)

Thank you you too ossie. I mean some items sell well at times and others don't I guess it depends on what everyone wants to buy. i read alot of Dean Koontz books and Stephen King so these sell pretty fast.

Books sell reasonably well but cheaply these days. You also have to consider the postage costs on books, I recently sold a lovely hardback book for only £2.99 but the postage was £8 because of the weight of the book

Yeah that is a big problem the weight of the books that you are selling

Ebay is famous but I have never sell anything through the service. I heard many people use ebay as a platform to trade and have earned a lot of money. I just to know how to begin.

well at the top of ebay it has the seller's link to get you started. I wasn't sure how myself I had to pray around and look.

I read also a lot of books and when I learned how to sell on ebay, I was very glad because I could not get some money for my old books and buy new ones to read. However, I started to buy many books even from the U.S. that I now sell a lot of books on ebay which I haven't really read. I find it good to do something that is part of what I love doing and that is reading.

I read a LOT of paperbacks and I know my husband would be glad to see me get rid of them! Do you sell your books in lots or individually? Which is the most profitable? I shop ebay but not for books. What about a book exchange like Bookins.com? On that site, you trade books for points and only pay for shipping and handling. I haven't done it yet, I'm trying to weigh the value of selling vs. exchange.

I usally sell them individually I try to get at lest $5 or $6 dollors a peice I guess depending on if it is a paperback book or a hardcover book. I will have to check out bookins.com. You said it is free shipping & handling I might coukd use that to switch out some of my books for others that I want to read. Thanks for your response.
