Do any of you home school your children? If so, how many children do you have? Are they all of school age? How long have you been home educating? Do you use a program or make your own curriculum? Are you happy with your state laws? Do you belong to HSLDA? If you had to do it again would you? What were your reasons to begin homeschooling in the first place? was it religious reasons, or other philosophical reasons? Do you have a name for your school? Thanks for answering:) a lot of questions just rattled off, I know.

My son is still too little, but I plan to homeschool him and his brother-to-be. My main reason for doing this is that we live in Guatemala, but my children will be half-Canadian. I want them to have the ability to continue their education in Canada or the U.S. I was homeschooled all my life, I never went to school. My parents originally just wanted to make sure I was strong enough to withstand peer pressure, but when I did very well the first year, they just kept going. My three younger sisters were also homeschooled. If you want to know more, I´d be happy to answer any questions you have, just message me.

how wonderful! Is your country supportive of home education? Congratulations on your expanding family! I have been to Guatemala but I was only 8years old. I found the people to be very friendly, I loved the markets and all the woven goods and the smell of leather!

I'm homeschooling my dd and have been doing so since she was 3 - she's now 5. I use the Charlotte Mason approach. I just wish our state laws were more lenient but I have learned of ways around them. So, while I've considered joining the HSLDA I haven't done so. Our homeschool is: "homeschool 4 us" Brenda Marie Homeschool 4 Us (My homeschool blog): http://homeschool4us.blogspot.com/ My ebook: "Homeschooling Without The Headaches" http://stores.lulu.com/store.php?fAcctID=812683

I'm sure that your kids will appreciate what you're doing for them and the nay sayers will hush soon enough, as your kids show them how intelligent and sociable they really are. Wow, awesome that you are asking questions. We homeschool. We have 2 girls that are 6 and 3. We have unschooled them since birth gaining most of our insight from www.sandradodd.com/unschooling We do not do curriculum. We learn all the time. We spend a lot of time learning in the car through discussion such as why it rains and lighting and lightning rods and what lighting is and what thunder is. I guess lots of science discussion in the car, lol! Very happy with our state laws here in Michigan. We do not belong to HSLDA. I really can't answer if I had to do it again, because we are barely started. I have wanted to homeschool since my oldest was 1 month old. She is very bright and I didn't want her getting bored in school. Plus, if it isn't fun, she won't do it. No name for us! HTH!

My sons are still little, but I plan to homeschool when they are older. My state is extremely lenient when it comes to homeschooling, thankfully. I'm not a member of the HSLDA, though I've thought about it.
