Who does your taxes?

We just had our taxes filed. We used to use a woman down the street from us but she got cancer and she can't do them anymore. So we found another man to do them and he found out that the lady that had been doing ours wasn't getting back all that she could for us. So this new guy got back a good bit for us this year so I'm happy. I was wondering how everyone does their taxes. Do you do your own, have a person do them out of their home for you, go to a tax preparation office such as H&R Block or what do you do?

We used to go to a guy we knew that did them , he only charged a small fee for doing it but then one year we decided to try H&R Block and ended up with a lot more money back even though we paid out more . We have went there ever since .

I use Tax Cut, cheaper than Turbo Tax and backed by H&R block.

I actually do my own taxes. I have been doing them for a while now. I don't have to worry about paying others to do them. Sometimes they can be very expensive...I like the fact I can do them myself and not go through the hassle of having someone else do them

It would be nice if I knew how to do my own. I am self employed so I'm scared I would mess something up if I did my own.

I normally figure our taxes myself, but then I got to H & R Block to have them so them. I have them file them for me so if there is a problem they can assist me in solving it. I figure it myself first though so I know what I am getting & if H & R Block says something different, I can ask why. There has been only once they figured less that what I had, & that is because I had inverted 2 numbers. That is the kind of mistake that can cost you a bundle.

Oh yes, that will show a big difference sometimes. The IRS messed my mom's up one time. She had only made 10 thousand that year because she had been in the hospital for her heart and had surgery so she couldn't work. The IRS had it down as she had made 100 thousand and they sent her a letter telling her she was going to have to pay all this money to them. She had to call and get it corrected. So it was actually the IRS that had messed hers up just because they put in an extra zero.

I have always done mine except one time I let H&R block do it and they screwed it up. I do my online with taxslayer. I do not want to give money to someone to do something I can do myself.

I have worked for H and R block and jackson hewitt. They are rip offs who charge too much. But PLEASE do not do your own taxes unless you have no kids, no mortgage. Unless you have taking a FEW courses. You may think your getting all you can but you probably are not. Either get a referal from a friend or take the time and effort to have a professional teach you.
