Let's talk about student life. Do you remember the times when you cheat during examinations? Were you caught cheating? I remember when I was in high school, I'm such a good student. Neither do I cheat nor let anyone copy my answers. BUt when off to college? Oh my, here comes me, myself and I. Can't resist to cheat sometimes when examination comes. Hmmmm... i suppose you were also like that during your student life, weren't you? Well, the good thing is, I haven't caught cheating by any of my teachers. How about you? Have you been caught cheating? :)

Cheating has been rampant in almost every school. It has grown more frequently than what it usually has been. Students have found many ways to perfect cheating so it is not easily detectable. Technology has helped many of students cheat on their school tests. Small gadgets are available to store notes and make cheating easy for them. Teachers are actually fooled by these students because they do not know when cheating is happening. Students have calculators, which are legal in school but are also able to store information that no one can detect it. Palm pilots organizers can hold and store lots of memory for a student that could be vital information for a test. Text messaging on cellular phones and pagers. Text messaging makes it easier for students to silently talk to each other during a test, asking each other questions right in front of the teacher. Vibrating and no sound modes make all this possible. One way for teachers to avoid all of cheating is to regulate what is and what is not allowed in the classroom during examinations. For example, during any test except for a math test, the teacher can say no to calculators being allowed. Taking away calculators will minimize the problem of storing the memory of some notes on the calculator. A math teacher can give the equations already so there would be no reason for anyone to cheat. The math teacher can also give problems without the need of a calculator. Restricting calculators is possible as calculators were not around the time our parents were in school and they had math problems just like any of us. There are many ways to cheat without a teacher noticing the act The first steps for teachers to detect cheaters are to know the different strategies. Teachers should be aware if the student has "wandering" eyes. If a student looks suspicious, they might be cheating. Some students might write the answers on their clothing or on their hands, also they even write the answers on their shoes. They may also ask another student who just had the class before, what was on the test. They may write the answers with a pen with no ink, but when held up against the light, the answers are visible. Another possible way of cheating is to have a piece of paper hanging out of their book bag with the answers hidden in a story. Teachers may carelessly leave tests on their desks for the students to see. This would influence students to cheat. Many students cheat because of pressure of their home environment or even peers. Students may compete with one another for the best grade to be better than one another, but the most logical reason for cheating is plain laziness. Students are too lazy to study but they want to have passing grades. Cheating is their only solution to their failing grades.

Exactly. The reason why I don't cheat when I was in high school? It's because I know I'm good at school. But when I was in college, I have to do everything to pass all those subjects especially if I get failing marks. I don't want to fail. SO that's basically one big reasons why student cheat. Well, there are also teachers who let their students cheat too. I had one Professor in college that allowed us to do cheating in 15 minutes. Cool teacher! lol. He told us he understands our concern because he was once a teacher. BUt when he says he will not let us cheat in a certain exam, we should follow or else he will immediately put a failing mark on our grade :)

Agree with your comment. Cheating becomes more and more of an habit nowadays. Teachers should be more stringent during the exam, or give severe punishment if a student got caught. Students need to be reminded, that honesty is above all... even passing an exam. Although I do admit that I've cheated when I was a student, but not proud of it. Later on in studies, I've failed a course. It was a difficult subject. I was sad to have failed, but proud since I'm not tempted to cheat (when some of my classmates who passed the exams cheated). I just told myself to prepare better next time, and I did. So passing an exam is possible without cheating...

You might say am oa or what, but yeah I never cheated or copied from my seatmate's answers... I even remember one time when we had a surprise exam for our Journalism class way back college days, I really haven't got even just half an hour sleep coz I was doing our project for my major subject... our journalism class was at 7:00AM and when I reached school, I was really dizzy. Then much to my surprise, our teacher just handed us a test paper to answer... and how do you expect me to know what those questions were? everything that's on my head that time was sleep..sleep..sleep... I was really tempted to cheat or copy but am also afraid what if i'll be caught...that would be a whole lot of shame... so I decided not to... well, what I did was, I handed back the test paper to our teacher with my message... " Am really sorry, ma'am...am not feeling well and I really don't know how to answer these questions... I'd rather get a zero than cheat or copy from my classmates.. AM SORRY..I'll try to do good next time." then I walked out the room slowly... :)

I cheated on an exam once. My chemistry teacher at the time was standing up front before an exam and I started freaking out that I was not prepared so I went up and borrowed a pencil from him. I guess it was a mixture of a sense of urgency in my voice and the fact that he had never seen me use a pencil before, ever, but he decided to keep his eye on me and as I was finishing up copying some formulas onto my desk with the pencil, he simply went "Anthony, switch seats with Jimmy please." He talked to me after class and told me never to let him catch me again.

I've never been caught cheating, because I have never cheated. Usually, I never need to - I'm one of those who can usually take a test and make a decent grade, even though I haven't studied (barring that I get nervous, of course). That's not to say I haven't been tempted to cheat. My major is game programming, and when you take a programming test, you either know the code, or you don't. If you don't know the code, you're in trouble, especially if you get a teacher that doesn't let you use any resources. In times like those, the temptation to peak over at your neigbors computer screen is almost too great to overcome. However, I've always had a "moral" objection to cheating. I blame myself for my lack of knowledge, and I would rather fail a test than cheat. I'm not trying to be righteous, or anything, I just have an incredibly swollen ego when it comes to my intelligence, and it hurts me more to know that I cheated to get a good grade, instead of recieving the grade I deserved for not knowing the material.

Pal i had never cheated in any exam in my student life. I think its real crime. I hate cheating. If i don't know any answer in the exam i give the empty papers. It happened with me once. I really don't like to cheat and never i will cheat. Nor in my school life neither in my college life i had cheated.

oh my, do i remember! i tried cheating when i was in high school. i was so fortunate i never got caught. i still remember having a cheat sheet stuck between the plaits of my skirt uniform during physics or chemistry exams. i just have to write down the formulas cause it was hard for me to memorize them. or i would sometimes let my seatmate copy my answers or i would ask the answer from him. i wasn't a habitual cheater during exams, only on those subjects that i found difficult. and i always get nervous and paranoid, thinking that someone might see me and report me and i might get expelled from school. i felt so guilty and ashamed of myself whenever i cheat on exams. i know a lot of my classmates were doing the same thing but somehow, that fact didn't lessen my guilt or shame. when i went to college, i studied harder and i can't remember that i ever cheated back then.

Well ok, ok I will admit as much as I used to dislike it but I still did it. I tended to get naughty at times and cheated so professionally that my teachers never caught me even if I was cheating in front of them. But to be honest I got caught once and that was because there was this guy in my class who used to cheat 24/7. He used to cheat so much that we always joked about him cheating even in his sleep. But one day he and another guy got caught and then he spilled his beans and told the teacher the names of everyone who was cheating. More than half of the guys were caught but the supervisor informed our parents and she said that I understand that exams are very important to you and many cheat because of the pressure. She called us one by one and asked us individually questions present in the papers orally and boy was she surprised when me and another friend of mine got most of the answers right! She was like "I don't understand why of all the people you two cheated. You got enough to get 85% on the paper and yet you cheated" and we just apologized and she let us off! Lucky break I got there come to think of it. I think it was her kind gesture that made me leave cheating for good. As for other students they all flunked! As for the guy who tattled on me ... Well on the last day of our final paper he had to be carried home because ... Somehow he could not manage to walk ;) Meanie! Yeah I know but nothing is sweeter than revenge.

I never cheated. I don't feel the need to try to steal from the hard work of others. I do my own work and pass or fail I am responsible. I just feel that cheaters rape the work of others for their own benifit and it hurts everyone. The weak cheat, the strong study and work hard.
