I was wondering if anyone has ever been successful at getting their cat to stop spraying? He hasn't started yet but I know that time will come. I really don't want to neuter him unless I really have to. What works? Any suggestions?

He would most likely turn out to be a cleaner cat if you get him neutered, also reduce the risk of testicular and renal cancer. But the only thing I can suggest is to be on the ball and start watching him constantly for when he does start. You need to arm yourself with a sparay bottle or water pistol, with water in it with lemon juice or vinegar and give him a squirt when you see him doing it. But just remember this might not work because spraying in a natural instinct for toms.

You either neuter him now and prevent future unwanted litters or put up with him spraying constantly and your house stinking like a sewer that you can never get rid of. Your choice! I'd rather neuter cause I know what it's like living with even one tomcat spraying all over the place.
