Would you answer the door in a robe?

So I was watching this tv show last night when the female character answered the door in her robe. She looked the peep hole first and saw that it was a delivery man. A complete stranger. Would you do that? I like to be very comfortable in my house. Afterall, it's my house. And those that come to my door risk the chance that I may not be dressed. But I"m not sure I would open the door to a complete stranger in nothing but a robe. A friend, maybe. Then again, it is my house. What about you?

i once answered the door in a towel. i was taking a shower and was expecting a freind so i thought it was my friend and i just wrapped the towel around myself and answered the door and it was my landlord. i don't get embarassed easily so it didn't really bother me, but i was trying to pick up my cat so it didn't run out the door and my towel fell half off my body. so he had gotten a little bit of a show.

No way! In the first place, I wouldn't be caught walking around the house in a robe anyway. And I certainly wouldn't open the door if I'm not properly dressed...even if it's someone I know. I think it's only polite and courteous. I don't think anyone wants to see me prancing around half-naked..except maybe my husband! LOL!!!

Why would you not be walking around the house in a robe? Do you live with other people than your husband who you don't want to see you? Do you not cover up after a shower when you go from the bathroom to the bedroom? Just curious....

You can do whatever you want in your own house. If someone comes to your door then you can make a quick cover-up by grabbing a ROBE! There's nothing wrong with it.

Yes I would and I have. Being comfortable at home is important to me. If someone comes unannounced, I simply greet them at the door and say, I'll be right back. Then I go change into something more presentable.

dressing gown comfort - comfortable at home
I think if you are dressed in a regular dressing gown then it is okay to answer the door. If you are dressed in one of those come get me outfits for your husband then dont answer the door. I wouldnt think you would be likely to be answering the door late at night anyway.

My problem is that I am usually very undressed at home. Especially during the summer. So if some one comes to the door, I have to scramble around to find somthing to put on. I think maybe once I might answer the door exactly as I am. After all, they chose to show up unanounced!

I have a central surveillance system in my homes so that I can automatically see who is on the door. If it's someone I know even if it's a girl it's ok for me. It's nice to display my body for once, I've worked hard for it. Besides, I don't get the difference between a guy in a boxers, shorts and a towel meeting a friend on the door from a guy just wearing trunks in the swimming pool outdoors? I'm very akward when it comes to the pool. At least when I'm barely dressed at least they know that it's my house. And if they say to "please put some more clothes on" I'll simply answer, "Why? Are you gonna rape me? and as if you haven't seen me in my swimming trunks!?"

lingerie robe - sexy come hither gown
Just dont be answering in a very provocative thing as the man may get the wrong idea. Like you were inviting him.

There is nothing wrong wit h it i have answered the door in a towel right out of shower, underware(jockies) and even a speedo. It is the chance you take when you knock on someones door. Unless you are expected anything goes.

Now do you think you views are different then a woman? Most women on here fear opening the door to a stranger because you don't know what might happen. But being a man, you probably don't have that same fear, right? Interesting....

Hmm never thought of it like that but if you put it in to those terms what is a unarmed person gonna do if they have a bathrobe on and the person at the door has a weapon do you think the robe is gonna stop anything. Man or woman if the person at the door has a weapon then there not much gonna change. But i never fear opening the door but It would be different for a woman i guess.

I always answer the door no matter what. I wont answer it if I'm only have boxers on. I don't find it's embarrassing to do so, unless some people are different.

I don't answer the door for delivery men if I am home alone. I indicate through the window beside my door to just leave the package. Once that door is open, it doesn't matter what you are wearing! If they are a criminal, they will have you and your home the minute you open the door! Perhaps I am too paranoid, but I would rather be safe!

I would never. But my partner has this attitude of opening the door even without probing whose at the door. When many of my alerts went on deaf ears, i was left with no option, so I fixed grill doors in front of the main door, thinking that even if she opens the main door, yet she would be behind the grills

I'd open the door in a robe, it wouldn't bother me in the least. I've answered the door to delivery men in my pyjamas many times (mainly because they've shown up at 7am, and I was in bed!). They generally won't wait around for you to get dressed. Plus, the likelihood of seeing those people again is slim, so I'm not overly concerned about how they see me.

I shouldn't but, on rare occasion I do. I if someone is at the door and I am expecting a delivery I will open the door even in my robe. If I am not expecting anyone I will yell please wait I have to put my dog up. and then I will go put some clothes on.

Sure I would. Why not? I agree with you, they came to my house they have to live with what I am in in my own domain. I have never actually done this as I don't own a robe, but I could see it happening.

Have a birthday coming up? I'm sure I can find you a nice Hugh Hefner style robe. Wouldn't that be great for answering the door in? Monogrammed of course....

I'm sure the delivery man has seen worse. In England when tony blair won the first election his wife cherie came to the door in just a night shirt, hair stuck up like a bids nest, it was obvious she had just got out of bed to answer the door, it was a delivery of flowers but unfortunately for her there was half the worlds press on her doorstep, so the poor woman made the papers like that - every womans worst nightmare!

I have a huge, thick, long robe and usually an equal long nightshirt under it. Its like a coat, so I do answer the door in it while I'm wearing it. I see nothing wrong with it. Its not like I'm showing off anything! Now some people I know wear these filmy things which I wouldnt answer a door in. There is a difference!

Yes I would and have answered the door in my robe and or pjs. Sometimes the mailman comes to deliver a package and I am not dressed. I don't want to wait until tomorrow to get my package so I throw on a robe and answer the door.
