out gloves? Even if the establishment looks clean, would you consider this a safe place to eat? Or would you only accept food as it first came off the stove to the counter?

I often worry about eating at a buffet. I have done it many times but once, I saw a kid pick up food with his hands and put it back in the dish. I just got up and left. But then again, I saw a child lick the salt shaker in a nice restaurant once that was not a buffet restaruant so you just never know what is clean and what is not. I do not use salt or peper from a shaker in a restaurant any more.LOL

I saw the sneeze guards and thy said that they do not stop the spreading of germs. I was thinking about the flu and other things being a possible danger. It does make you wonder. I mean what if its someone who has tb or something contagious like a form of something serious?

I personally hate buffets.I have seen so many people with their plates full. And then guess what happens? They put something back to get something else. And yes this is after they ate off the same plate.YUK! I would like something off the stove.Or even better cook at home!

If I saw someone poking around in any of the dishes I would complain to the manager as there are plenty of utensil arounf so no-one should have to touch it. I don't think it would make any difference as it come from the stove to the buffet table just as it does to the place your sitting at.

Our Family usually love buffets, as there is such a great range of food, suiting even the people in oyur family with allergies. Also it is more economical. Howver, you have a good point. Food is so much more accessible to people who are not careful with their hands, snezzing and couging. I think the staff in buffets should be very vigilant.

I have always had my doubts as to the effectiveness of those silly sneeze screens on buffets(or whatever the are) as I see people lean in under them and everything else. If I saw someone sneeze or handle food without gloves I would certainly say something to the manager, request my money back, and leave! I am really beginning to feel more and more that the quality of food workers is declining and rules are not upheld as they used to be. I see few, if any, with hairnets, few with gloves, many who absent-mindedly wipe their nose or sweat off thier brown and go right back to preparing food! My children are both servers at a local, national chain restaurant and they tell me that if the wrong food is served to a client and the client sends it back, the dish sits under the warmer until the next person orders it!!!

Yes, I would report it and make sure others eating there heard me. I worked as a cook for several years and I reported fellow employees - I wouldn't eat after someone else had handled my food I certainly was not going to expose others to the same thing.

I think it is next to impossible to control buffets. With the amount of people eating there, how could they control who is sick and who is not. If I saw someone sneezing into the food, I would tell the manager, I am leaving , I am not paying and I am not coming back. I might be considered rude but my health is more important.
