Here in my place all the people believe in witches, my neighborhodd haven't evolved yet from the old times... whenever there is someone pregnant, all my neighbors would surround the pregnant woman's house with spears, garlics, and other stuff used to scare witches(witches are known to eat the baby inside the womb).. but on my own opinion, not once have we experienced being attacked by witches.. so i'm guessing they are not real.. how bout you? do you believe in witches? what kind of witch stories does your elders tell you? are you scared of them?

Well, I knew there were still a few pockets of superstious villages left. Being a witch myself I can assure you we're real but we're definitely not evil, and baby-eating's not really our thing. We love children. We don't steal them or anything. We;d never hurt 'em. We also don't attack people. And I can't really be afraid of myself can I? Plus we're human beings just like you. My nation's culture's tried to feed me a load of crap..the boogeyman and whatnot, but I've never really paid much attention to it thankfully :) I hope I answered all your questions there, I'm tired so I might've missed one or two. Heh.

I know loads of witches, but none of them do any of the types of things you're talking about. =p A lot of superstitions stick around centuries past their expiration date. Obviously we know now what types of things cause women to lose babies, and witches aren't one of them. A lot of times what superstition really does for people is make them feel like they have power. They may not be able to actually ensure a safe birth for a baby, but they can sure as heck put up things to protect it from supernatural powers. There are so many things in the world that just have to take their natural course that people often feel powerless to do anything about it, and superstition changes that. However, sometimes it can be very unhealthy to be superstitous. If you believe something is the work of witches, you could avoid finding the real cause, and sometimes it might be something you could have affected here in the physical world. Also, it leads to much animosity between neighbors. Who is being accused of "being the witch"? What are they suffering through no fault of their own? Sorry for the long rant, this topic just made me think a lot. =p

I don't believe in witches. In my country, Italy, very few people believe in witches, especially children. There many wicth stories for children in which witches are bad.
