Who else finds Hugh Laurie, as Dr. House, appealing?

This is so confusing since I never saw him as someone I'll be attracted to before, physically and emotionally. If someone describes his character in this show, I might even say I'll be turned off by a guy like that. How come when it comes to Hugh Laurie taking on this role, his arrogance and socially unacceptable ways seems so endearing? his scuffy looks unusually attractive? It might be annoying to his other co workers, but Dr. House's determination to cure inspite being reckless at times seems admirable? So does that mean that I like 'bad guys'? What do you think?

i think no woman would ever fall for him if they don't know him yet. it the inside that counts. his tactics might be brutal and despising yet his intention is undoubtedly honest... to cure his patients.

I don't think I like bad boys. I DO like facial hair, LOL. And I love Hugh Laurie. I have his book and his series "A bit of Fry and Laurie" on DVD. I like HUGH. He's immensely talented. His comedic timing is perfect. I'm glad that Americans are discovering Hugh, but there is so much more to him than "House"

I love House and I'm smitten with Hugh Laurie. I can't speak for why you like him (but I can commend your good taste) but to me, House isn't a bad guy. He's an extremely flawed guy, with a lot of admirable qualities. He may not like people, but he will fight tooth and nail to cure the ones in his care. He can be cruel, but he can also be kind. The kindness usually happens when no one else is around. He's smart, fun loving (all those pranks and games), talented, grouchy, confident, stubborn, nosy, childish, dedicated, determined, caring (again, not overtly), and rude. I like him because he's complex and doesn't fit neatly into a box.

im not attracted to him in the same way you are. but i do like the show partly because of his flaws as a character. there are too many shows on with perfect main characters. i think people can relater to him because of his problems and that is what helps make the show good. like many people who are in the elite of their fields they have problems. steven hawking isnt really living the good life now is he?

Well, Anixie, trust me, you are not alone with such feelings. I, too, find myself undeniably attracted to that arrogant doctor. So, so weird. But I guess his humor (if you can call it that), intelligence and most of the time unorthodox way of solving cased is what makes him yummy, erm, I mean appealing. Hee.
