Looking for book recommendations - I've depleted my lists!

Okay, I have pretty much read everything there is to read for my favorite authors and all of the recommendations I've received from friends and I'm at a loss for what books to try now. I read a couple that really disapointed me and I picked these up on the off chance they might be good, they weren't. So please help? I'm looking for dark books, vampires, dragons, werewolves, witches, shapeshifters - I love fantasy. Romance is god, but not necessary, magic is a bonus. Something with mystery, fantasy, horror, all rolled into one is a real plus in my book. I also like period pieces, although it's been a while since I found one that caught my eye. The last book I read was Robin McKinely's "Sunshine" - fabulous. My favorite authors include Kim Harrison, Patricia Briggs, Marie Brennan, Mercedes Lackey, Stephanie Meyer, L.J. Smith, and Charlain Harris. I've read Kelley Armstrong's series and I loved that as well. I've tried to read L.A. Bank's series, gag me with a spoon. Ditto that for Savannah Russe as well. Any recommendations?

Try Kelly Link. I tell you, this writer tells stories like nothing you've read before.

I am an author and translator of the Word of God from Greek to English. I have already published GENESIS, EXODUS, LEVITICUS (Greek-English), THE WILL New Testament (Greek to English), ELEMENTS of SALVATION, The Right Way, GOD, ORIGIN, TRANSFER into PERFECTION, GREEK-ENGLISH (Grammar & Vocabulary), WORDS in THE WILL New Testament, and others shown at http://www.lulu.com/arseniajoaquin The first three books of the Holy Bible are the source of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding and practically everything that we know now originated from them. I hope that you would include GENESIS, EXODUS, LEVITICUS (Greek-English) in your reading first to know the basic knowledge then also the others to understand the wisdom of God. The Holy Bible has always been the best seller of all times.

While I appreciate your suggestion I would have to say that I am disinclined to read those recommendations. I am agnostic and while I can accept others have different views than me I am not typically one to inflict those views onto myself needlessly. Thank you fo your comment.

If it's vampires, werewolves and shapeshifter's your looking for then look no further than Sherrilyn Kenyon and her dark-hunter book's. They have it all and there is even a bit of romance thrown into the mix, trust me you will not regret it. Another author I can recommend with confidence is Garth Nix, he is a great fantasy writer and it is so easy to get lost in one of his books. I hope that this will be of some help to you. Happy reading.

I believe I might have tired Sherrilyn Kenyon once, though I don't think I ever gave it a full shot. I certainly don't think I've read anything by Garth Nix. Thank you very much for your suggestions and I will definately check them out!

If you like vampires, dragons, werewolves that definitely means you are a Harry Potter fan and I presume you are done with the series. I would recommend that you take a look at Eragon which is a series that a new writer Christopher Polini. The author has tried to get a mix of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. For a new entrant the book pans out quite well. Cheers! Ram

Actually I've read that too, and despite being a dragon lover I was dissapointed with the book. The author was a little too heavily influenced by his own favorite authors, if you catch my drift. While the book had its moments I couldn't help but draw comparisons with it and the books he obviously (and later admitted to) modeling the book after. Thank you for your suggestion though! I really do appreciate it. :)

Is "Dragon Rider" anything like Lackey's "Joust", "Alta", or "Sanctuary" books, or is it more along the lines of Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series? Thank you for the suggestions I will definately check them out! :)

Well I'd recommend for you Chistopher Pike's books. Most of those have a mix of things going on. Some are more just towards the mystery part but he has some that deals with very strange things going on. Nora Roberts Donovan Series deals with witchs and romance. I've heard some of her other series deals with other fantasy/horror type characters. Good luck.

You know I have actually never read anything by Christoper Pike (I think). I will definately check out his selection when I go shopping today. Thank you! Nora Roberts, to be frank I thought she was just a romance writer, something along the lines damsel in distress and hunky hero kind of thing which really isn't my cup of tea. I might have to give her a look then, it seems I missed something. Thank you :)
