They called me on my cell phone and told me that was the best stew I had ever made. I just let it be my little secret about cabbage. 2 teaspoons olive oil 1 medium red onion, chopped 1/2 medium cabbage, cored and chopped 14 ounces stewed tomatoes 6 small red potatoes, fourthed 2 medium carrots, chopped 1 red pepper or yellow pepper or green pepper 1/2 teaspoon thyme 1 cup vegetable broth (I sometimes use beef broth) 1 cup corn 1 cup green beans 1/2 lb lean ground beef for spicier stew 1 teaspoon chili powder 2 teaspoons cumin salt and pepper Brown ground beef and drain;set aside. Heat olive oil in skillet and add onion and cook 2-3 minutes. add cabbage, tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, bell pepper, thyme. Mix well. add broth. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. cover and cook 20 minutes. stir in corn and beans. cover and cook 15 minutes. hope you liked it

...the way I would make stew is in the morning to brown the chosen meat, pretty well.. almost half cooked.. mix in a half a cup of flour (for a large pot) stir that up good for a minute or two.. then add my milk or water or broth.. then the washed and cut up vegetables and potataotes.. or bag of frozen vegetables.. add more liquid if needed, and let simmer til suppertime.. This is especially good with rolls or home made (or style) bread.. :))
