Have you ever wonder why mylot called mylot?

Ever since I started with myLot last month, I already have an idea as to its meaning because I've also thought about it. I believe myLot means 'my people'. The use of the word 'lot', which has many meanings, could mean 'people', as in this sentence: "The lot has followed suit; they went towards that direction." This means that myLot in itself is a membership forum wherein people know each other (well of course virtually) and belong to a community called 'myLot'.

This is what i think you know when you buy a piece of land/a home and you get a lot # they call it a lot or lot of land so if some one saw your piece of land/lot they would say thats Maribel lot you would say thats my lot if they asked you who's lot is that now thats your home you can express your self in your home its yours you invite friends and family and you just talk with each other other wise known as having a discussions, now I think that's what they had in mind when they came up with the name MYLOT.

Lol this is quite funny , when I have been on here for hours and I MEAN hours I will say to hubby " well that's MY Lot for tonight " I have been saying that for years and now it really is My Lot . xx

Hi Maribel, I think that the reason why mylot is called mylot is due to our discussions and that we have have a lot of discussions about a lot of different subjects here on mylot and also due to we make friends and therefore anything that we own we call my meaning mine and lot well we do a lot of things on mylot and so that is where they chose this name which fits appropriately for their name mylot.

I don't know the answer to this question but I would think it has something to do with "my" being each one of us and lot (as in an area of space) = our space? It would be interesting to know the true answer, maybe someone could ask myLot.

That is a really good question. I think I have the answer for you. I think you may have heard the expression, "that is my lot in life." It means what you are about. What your life is about. What direction your life is taking. When you look at it that way, it makes perfect sense and is a very good name. Because really, that is what this is all about. People talking about what is happening in their lives. Or. Their "lot" in life.

well, i do agree with your opinion... to me, my means I (belongings or possesions) and lot means area, space or land... may be mylot means a space (lot) for me (my) to interact with other people through discussions... that's what i thought... it is an interesting name though...

im not sure why it would be called mylot, but its sort of suits it in a way, not sure how or why, i just think it does lol

The word lot has several meanings. It can also mean fortune. But, I personally don't like the name myLot. It doesn't excite me or create any powerful feelings. I am not sure what it is supposed to mean.

I guess they named it mylot because My=mine and Lot= space..So it totals my own space..I guess that's it.:)

Yeah, sometimes I have this question... I think it is a way to emulate Youtube, with "my" instead of "you". Then lot makes me think about lot of money :-)

Good that you thought about it coz even if we can't confirm how it got the name till admin releases an article about his success story we can speculate endlessly and I love to speculate logically,lol.Okay,it could be as simple as an area where our possessions could be showcased.That's when you think logically.And the real estate thing also could be true-A virtual real estate where once you start a discussion ,that keeps getting responses for months and you can cash in for all those responses.So,it's like a Virtual R.estate.Buy it once and let the cash continue pouring in forever.Now,if I start thinking weirdly ,then perhaps I'd say well,lot could be abbreviation of lottery ? as you say lot is a piece of land and this could be considered as a piece of internet land, our little bit of the internet.

I agree with one poster who thought it meant my space which is already a different site, and my lot is easy to spell. Short and sweet. When I first joined the other day, I thought it was weird, but i have gotten used to it.

I've wondered about this also. Like so much about Mylot it seems to be a big secret. I've decided that it means lot as "lot in life".

by the term lot means lottery or a message or a discussion.the word lot covers all the things which are in this site so mylot is the best name suitable to the site

yes...i thought the same thing u did. maybe they mean lot as in our property, or another way of saying space. u know like myspace....the profiles are pretty much like myspace, the commenting, friends, backrounds, pictures, ages and location. maybe this our "space" to make money, and maybe they were brainstorming and mylot just sounded right, catchy. i think it sounds pretty good and it fits mylot.
