Soup Survey-Campbell's or Progresso?

I love canned soup, for the flavor, convenience, and nutrition. I am not very brand picky, but the last 3 cans of soup I have eaten have been Progresso, and I would rate all 3 awful! Very bland flavor, lacking much heartiness, vegetables, meats, and all over value to me. So my vote is hands down Campbell's. They seem to have much better quality and content (as I listed above that Progresso LACKS.) What is your opinion?

I don't buy canned soup anymore but I'd rate campbell's and progresso about the same...Progresso maybe a little higher. I like pacific foods soups.

You find Progresso soup a little better than Campbell's? I would love to hear why, as I have been sold by Progresso at all. But then again, maybe I have tried the bad flavors as well. What are your favorite flavors (from Progresso Only.) I have never heard of Pacific Foods Soups either.....but I live by the Pacific!

I prefer Campbell's - hands down. I've been especially impressed with the Campbell's Select line. The Italian Wedding soup in that line is just wonderful! I've also enjoyed the recent additions to their cooking soups line. The Fiesta Cheese (I think that that is the name for it) and a few others in the new line are just wonderful additions to a casserole!

Yes, Campbell's does offer a wide variety of "edible soups" as well as "cooking soups." I don't eat much of the creamed soups and cheese soups unless it is added to a casserole or as a base for a sauce-but they are great. The Select line of soups is what I was referring too, and I have to agree that Italian Style Wedding is one of the best ones for sure! I also really like the "Chunky Line" and one of my all time favorites is Savory Vegetable and the Ham and Bean. Campbell's really packs in the meats and veggies, and to me that is what makes it a great buy.

Yes, I agree, as I am learning most other people do too. What is your favorite flavor/ kind?

Well, if I were to go with canned soup, it would be Cambell's for sure. However, there is too much sodium in canned soups. I prefer to make my own from scratch, and they are be far better and healthier than canned.

I agree, there is a lot of sodium in soups, but they are very good. I don't mind the extra sodium in a soup or other occasional meals because I very rarely add salt to anything I cook, and I make nearly all my meals here at home too. So, so far, no one is voting for Progresso-gee I wonder why.

I also prefer Campbell's over Progresso. Progresso soups consist of about 80% broth and 20% actual food. Campbell's always manages to fill me up, and they taste really good too. My favorite one is the Chicken Corn Chowder...it isn't the healthiest thing to eat, but it is soooo yummy!

Hi princess07031980, I recently discoverd that Campbells adds MSG to their soups for just such a reason. Flavor..... I did some research on MSG and found that it's not necessarily a good thing (if you are nutrition concious). I have since stopped eating canned soups and make my own. It's really cheaper and much more flavorful and you can decide on your own what goes in it (nutritionally).

Oh, don't get me wrong, I do enjoy makinf my own soups! Especially for a cold night's dinner served with garlic bread and salad. But for a quick meal, or a simple lunch, I admit I will open a can and throw it in the microwave for a minute or so. I have heard of MSG-all the Asian restaurants around here proudly display on their menues they do not use it, so it must be a big thing. Isn't a type of salt?
