This was the latest addition to our guinea pig family. She was born in November 2006. Gee they grow fast.:) Hehe, furry little thing. Her fur is a little weird because I took this photo after she had a bath. :)

They're not quite as neat as cats (but rabbits generally are). However, if you have short haired pigs, you shouldn't really have to bath them. Unless they get into something.

Too cute! How much does she weigh? I just love the little ones. I had a baby here once that was about 50 grams. She was so tiny! I always end up wishing I had more photos of the babies. But they're of course still cute as adults so they're always good photogenic subjects.

Very cute, they do grow fast so make sure you take pics while they are babies. I can't remember when mine were that small ... the same thing can be said about kids - one minute they are babies and the next they are all grown up.

We have 5 guinea pigs now. I was never a guinea pig lover really, but one day my husband came home with our first one, and I was smitten. My husband is American and moved to Australia when he married me. He has always loved wombats, and when he saw our Mr Peepers, who is a 'Teddy' breed guinea pig, he looked just like a wombat, so couldn't resist him. Then we thought Peepers was a little lonely, so thought we'd get him a female companion (we know all about the breeding issues, but there is a large market for guinea pigs here in Melbourne). We then fell in love with another female, who is the prettiest guinea pig I have ever seen! We call her Little Mouse, 'cause she looks like a mouse - with a thinnish nose and face. So we had Peepers - a Teddy, Frankie - a light brown Coronet with tiny patches of orange, and Little Mouse - a grey and white Silkie. Then just last week Frankie gave birth to her first litter. Two gorgeous little boys - one black silkie (with a smear of orange inherited from his mum)and a Teddy, the image of his dad. I'd love to keep them both, but having 3 males is a little much, 'cause Little Mouse is pregnant now too, so we will need to separate her from Peepers soon, and Frankie can't go back in with Peepers for a while, and Frankie's boys can't be with her either, so we need too many crates for them. We haven't tried Peepers with his boys, but I think they would probably fight. The main upbringing and care of the guineas falls on my husband, as he was the one who made the decision to get Peepers (2 days before we were due to pick up our new 8 week old beagle, mind you!), so I leave all decisions to him. But I do have to say, I do get rather attached to them.

I know it is pretty silly responding to my own post, but I forgot to say that our piggies live inside. They're in crates on a table at the moment, but we are trying to come up with alternatives as the beagle is always curious. Not to hurt them, just to play! I have photos of them all, but I haven't uploaded them from the camera yet. As soon as I do, I will add the pics in. They all are really cute - but I have to say I have a soft spot for our original - Peepers, and our little beauty Little Mouse.

Oh how cute! We were given two adult guinea pigs when I was four or five and I used to love putting a pillow on my lap and having them sit with me and watch tv. I see them at the pet shop ocasionally and wax nostalguc, thinking about how nice it would be to get another one but I'm afraid my dog might get ahold of it. A friend also said they are afraid of everything and photophobic, but I don't remember my guineas being nervous. Do you think they are?

She's very cute and lovely and shiny. Whereabouts in Australia do you live. Do you take her inside in winter? I've only ever had 1 guinea pig that I can remember for my children, it wasn't very tame and I think they either scared it or grabbed too hard when it was running loose. Do you have any other pets?
