I remember when I was in school, each friday afternoon, we go to do a word search puzzle. I loved doing them. We were each given a word search puzzle and were told the the first person who got finished with all the words correct got a prize. Now back in those days, a pencil was a welcome gifts. Pencils is usually what I picked out when I won. I got so I was really good at finding all the words. To this day, I still love to do word search puzzles. At Easter,I always make up some kind of game for the families who are at our home for Easter to play. A few times I have made up my own word search puzzle and each family works againt each other family to see who can find the words the quickest. It is so much fun to watch how each family works together for a common goal. As Easter grows nearer, my thoughts are going to making the competiton fun for all. I thought I would share the site that I used to make my own word search puzzles. It is so easy to make your own puzzle. One year I used the different names that Jesus was referred to , another year I used each person in the entire family. You could use names of animals or whatever you want. Have fun. First go to http://puzzlemaker.school.discovery.com/WordSearchSetupForm.html Then enter the title for your word search Then enter the size of the word search puzzle. Then choose weather you want the letters to be used once, shared, or share as much as possible Then choose HTML, TEXT or Lowecase text Enter the words that you want to be found look your puzzle over and then click on create my puzzle. That is it, you have now made your own word search puzzle and you can print them off.

This is a discussion I will put in my "good ideas " folder. My more immediate goal is to make one for third grade geometry terms, as state assessments are rapidly approaching, but I will also want to do a family based one. Love the idea.

I also greatly enjoy word search puzzles. I just bought a new book yesterday at a local dollar store. My kids love them too. We home school and I was cetainly glad to see your link as I do like to make my own to go along with whatever we are studying. They are helpful in spelling and with reading also. The kids don't see them as school work like they do other things.

Cool link! Thanks for sharing it. I used to love doing word search. Now I prefer crossword puzzles and logic puzzles. Sometimes I do sudoku but I still prefer words to numbers.

I like the word search but would rather do the crossword puzzles. I usually get the variety books with a little bit of everything in them. My mother in law is 91 years old and loves to do word searches. She goes through a lot of pens and pencils!

I love this puzzle maker! Thanks so much. I can make puzzles of the important terms for each chapter in our text or other associated words that the students need to learn! By having to find them spelled correctly, it will help them to learn their meanings !I could even let them work in groups in class and do it timed! Thanks so much village!

I do enjoy word search puzzles. When I was an LPN and did private duty, I would always take a book of these puzzles with me to work on while my patient slept. Thanks for the link. Since I am working on becoming an elementary school teacher that site could really come in handy. I think most kids like these puzzles.
