Have you read or received the e-mail of one youth leader here in the Philippines about the reasons why he would leave the Philippines. It was a news, a week ago. Many of the concerns in the controversial e-mail reacted over tv. (Y? it was disseminated throughout some parts of the world) Do you agree with that? Do you also have other reasons of leaving this (our) country?

I think the one who wrote this was Harvey Keh, anyways, I guess, the very reason now why I want to leave the country is basically my parents are outside the country and have immigrated there, and that would be my only reason in leaving the country (and maybe for a greener pasture, if i earn big there why not?)! :) Here's the link to that e-mail: http://blog.jammedph.com/the-controversial-lettere-mail-from-harvey-keh/

I do have plans of leaving the country and try to work outside since our country is no longer stable to give the needs of the people and almost everyone is vying for the title for their own personnal needs. Working outside the philippines doesnt mean that you have left your country, the point is, youll earn alot when working outside than working here where almost all your earning will be benefited to the government for their personnal needs.

So that would be like... feeding the sharks? Or oiling the corruption machine? No wonder politicians love OFWs so much, OFWs pay their household expenses and their children's bar tabs (among others).

I can give you 101 reasons why people leave the country and hopes for other citizenship - it is not because they do not love the country. it is because the country itself has stopped loving them and they can no longer see a life in their own land. i have not seen the email you are referring to.. but i guess his reasons might have the same reasons with the others filipinos who left and is still leaving the country for good.

Well for many who are working abroad there is only one reason why they do that. It is because of lack of better opportunities in here. And in my case I am just lucky I am given the chance to be employed in here but that doesn't stop me from going abroad since the earning capacity in here is so limited and growth is rather slow. So my reasons would be just like anyone's reasoning. I am leaving because I am human that needs job to be able to survive living if that chance is not provided for me here then I might look further beyond the greener pastures.

I personally planning to leave the country... I am working as professional in medical field...unfortunately, there is no good paying jobs here in the Philippines for medical professional..Of course, with that situation who would not wish to leave?? I need to earn for a living and at the same time I want to work in my profession..I have no plans to shift to a call center career just to earn bigger salary... I am planning to migrate to other country or work abroad for a living..for my future and for my family.. I guess we cannot blame people who left the Philippines and everybody wants to live a better life...

I guess money and security of their families are the main reasons why many Filipinoes leave the Philippines. I also intend to leave the Philippines hoping that a new place might offer a better life for me and my family.

I have not read the email you refer to. For me, I would leave the country if I am given the opportunity to work or migrate to another country where I could bring my family (wife and kids) along, my kids could have quality education at less cost (hopefully free) than if they would have it here in the Philippines. Quality time and happiness with my family comes first in my considerations for or against leaving the country.

ive received that email. well the guy who wrote that email is entitled to his own opinion. as to my point of view, leaving our country would not be a solution. i think we should help one another in order for our country to prosper. for me i want to work abroad not because i want to leave my country but to help it. if i cant have work here in our country then i might as well go abroad and find a work. at least i would be able to send money to my parents. in that manner, im still helping my country.

This is a nice question. It reminds me of what I've longed dreamed about that suddenly changed. Since I was in highschool, I have dreamt of putting up my own business here in our country and of course be successful with it too. And when I could already save some money, I would take time to travel anywhere in the world with my loved ones. But now that I have started working after graduation, my dream of having a business still continues, but the thing is the capital matters. And with the situation in our country today, leaving the Philippines and work abroad is still an amount. So, basically, MONEY and LIVING is what the reasons why Filipinos tend to leave their own country. Hope this helps :)

Plenty... but plenty of reasons also to stay. One reason for staying would be the actress Angel Locsin (you have an uncanny resemblance to her, eerie almost, har-har, are you, by any chance, sisters? har-har again). Well, we sure are going to miss that particular youth leader, after the elections he'll probably do a parody of Batman: TO THE AIRPORT! Anyways, REAL leaders don't run, they stand and fight. No loss, that one.
