When a person asks for alms. What will be our first reaction. Do we get irritated or just as we think they are poor and be considerate with them. Or do we just think of their future and help them in a different way like getting them a job other than giving them money... what will u do at this point!!

If I am moved to help them, I do. I try to listen to wisdom telling me to help or not. With so many people standing on street corners with signs asking for 'money for work', if you tell them you have work for them, they usually don't want to work. They ask if you could just give them the money. It's hard to determine who to help and who not to help. Meditate on it a bit before giving 'pearls to swine'.

I dont think it is our job to decide who is genuine or not. GOD will know and deal with them accordingly. If I have money, and I am moved to help, I give. Give and it shall be given unto you says the BIBLE and most other religions tell us to give alms. Nowhere do they tell us to sit as GOD and judge who is worthy to get alms. Of course there are scammers- give them anyway - what if you thought they were lying and they were telling the truth?

Here in the Philippines, I think we have law about giving alms to beggars though I am not sure if it's true or not. They say that it is bad to give alms because the beggar might just be a member of a syndicate. If a beggar approaches me, I give alms depending on my mood. I think, I give alms to beggars when I feel that I'm a lucky person because I have enough money to support me and my family.
