It really irritates me when...

...I have to wait for a service to be delivered. Right now I am sitting on my couch watching the cable guy trying to figure out why I have no TV. That's not the issue as I know that he is the professional and will figure it out. What irritates me is that when I called to request the service, I was told that the technician would be here between 2 and 6 pm. I took off of work early just to meet him and got home around 1 just to make sure that I was on time. I get a phone call at 6:15 from him asking if I still wanted him to come by, or was it too late? I was and am still fuming but I realize that this guy has probably been running around for hours himself. I apologize for this rant but I needed to express my frustration without taking it out on the technician. Thanks for listening.

Dude its good to let your frustration out before it erupts and yes it also irritates me when called for some professional and they give u a time and are not here at the given time. Man they must be thinking we got no work to do only. They think they are very busy. I told them 1 day when it happened to me.

I agree. These guys are really busy and they work really hard. This is why I didn't want to vent out on him. Thanks for your reply.

I hate to wait. I know it is a part of life. At least with our cable around here if they are that late, we get a $20 credit on our account. Did he at least get your cable working againg?

That's what my wife said. I should call the cable company and complain and maybe we would get a free month but I didn't want to risk getting the technician in trouble as he was very friendly and apologetic. I understand a little better now why he may have been late as he received about 3 calls during the install from his dispatch requesting him to do other jobs after mine. This tells me that our cable company doesn't schedule their workers but just assigns them jobs as they go. This is very poor time management. He eventually got my cable up and it took a little over an hour and I'm glad that itals over. I hope that I don't have to call for a service issue any time soon.

He really did look tired and stressed. I could tell that he was a hard worker.

Glad to know your cable is up and running. I know I would never want to do that job. I bet he is really stressed out.

I used to work at time warner cable and sometimes we would have people still waiting for a tech at 7:30 pm on a Friday night. And boy were they mad! We tried to handle their calls as diplomatically as possible but it was terrible sometimes. And yes the techs run ragged all day long trying to do all these installations and they are overbooked or after someone doesn't show for theirt appointment they tell us to send him back because they just got home. Well by then he's either in the middle of his next installation or on his way to one so it takes more tijme out of his schedule to go back but that is what he ahs to do. That just irks them or when some prima donna gets thrown in extra just because they know someone at the cable company and they just can't wait. It is good that you did not just unload on the tech because it is tough to be them and they are trying as hard as they can.

You bring up a good point. It is not always the cable company that is at fault. Customers have to reschedule the appointments as well and I can see how that would put a wrench into an already packed schedule. Thank you for contributing to this discussion from the service side. Your input is invaluable.

I know exactly what you are saying. Seems like if they are late they would refund a portion of the service fee. Or credit your cable bill. Customer service for the customer that makes them money. Good of you share this since we all encounter this from time to time.

The problem with where I live is that HDTV is not offered in all areas so I am limited to one service provider and they know this and probably won't compensate me. But I think I will call and see what they say...thanks:)

Wow, that's notbad, only a 4 hour wait. i've waited a whole day, only to have the cable company call at 8 45 pm to tell me they would have to reschedule because they were too busy today. The worst thing, was I was working nights at the time, so had to book 2 days off work each time

Whew...now that's over the top. I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I just wonder why cable companies are so notorious for being late? It really is an inconvinience for the customer.
