Okay the first thing you do is register at freewebtown.com and you will get 1 GB of memory to store things on there site. freewebtown.com is what it says totally free and for a beginner it is the easiest, cheapest way to develop the skills you need. For now don't worry about PHP and JAVA leave that for now, just concentrate on developing a few skills a day at a time. Most PHP sites charge extortionate fees because they have PHP capability. Orange.com [I think thats what it was called] are a great php site and they are incredibly helpful. But for now I would recommend learning the basics on freewebtown.com and then moving on up to php sites. Best of luck and be careful with some hosting sites they are not worth the money they make you pay, they won't help you when you get stuck and they charge you extortionate prices for poor customer service. There is one other thing, if you want to register a domain you cannot go far wrong with telivo.com I have registered several names with them. Best wishes good luck. If you have Microsoft Office, word will convert most things into html.

okey ... php is a script for comunication between users and database, through skin(user interface/web design/template), it's include sign up/in, forget password/id, email confirmation, hit stats, affiliate tracking/stas, earning stats, feedback, guestbook, date time, etc. Java....mmmm... maybe javascript, i think. because for web function java script is more necessary than Java. Java script is the script based on object oriented. This is like WYSWYG (what you see is what you get). You can make prompt (windows pop up), alert , calendar, and other more featured function. that maybe could increase to our web perfomance more beautifull.Java and Java script is both from Sun microsytem. okey...

If you're really serious about it (and obviously if it's your dream then you are...) you should use Macromedia Dreamweaver. It's not that difficult to learn, and it comes as a bundled package that includes Flash creation. It is the preferred tool of professional web designers, and once you get a little practice in with it it's pretty much drag & drop, but without the cheap looking results of Frontpage. I wouldn't recommend Frontpage to a mentally challenged person as a drawing program. Dreamweaver also publishes your work to an online server or host and you're done. You can pick up a book and the software at any large bookstore for about $40. Or you can buy a used one off abebooks.com and buy the software off ebay for about half the price. Or just download a trial version from macromedia.com and pay for it in 30 days if you like it. Hope this helps.

Start with a very basic free site and experiment all that you want in your site. Of the free site providers freeweb.com, bravenet.com are good. There are hundreds of such sites which offer you free hosting and in those sites everything you can build without much knowledge of web designing. If you want to start a site with your own domain the best place is godaddy.com get a cheap .info domain of only .99 cent (paypal and credit card accepted). With that purchase they provide you with a free hosting with almost every tools available, but a basic knowledge of HTML will be helpful in every case. With HTML knowledge you can very easily make a site just like you do everyday's work in MS-Word. You can see my site (www.thenetways.com) though it is highly professional and PHP is used here.

There are lots of free hostings site offer nowadays. Like Geocities, Freewebs, Atspace, etc. etc. I remember, your question is the same as mine ahahha. I started making my websites since 2001 or 2002...i don't remember, but i think it's Meteor Garden days lol. Since you're a beginner, you can use Dreamweaver or FrontPage for making webpages. But ofcourse, you have to learn also using Adobe Photoshop, it's the bestest graphics software

You got quite a few good responses to this discussion so I am not going to add anything else to it. I will just say that for most regular web page creation frontpage is good enough and much cheaper than dreamweaver - it actually even comes with some windows versions. If you want o make a page to share things that you enjoy or interest you , personal stuff , you don't really need to use paid hosting, free sites are ok. If you're thinking about a professional site, for business purposes, then it will be useful to have a paid space. If you need any more information than what was covered here, or if there is anything you didn't understand, give me a shout, I can help you - just keep in mind I"m not always here because of hubby's grandma.

I love freewebs. I have my own website at Freewebs. If I can do it anyone can. It is free but I am a photographer and sell prints and greeting cards on line so I need a lot of space for my images. If you don't need a lot of extra space for pictures, then you can go the freebie route. If you create your website on Freewebs first, there are many opportunities on Freewebs to learn the HTML and CSS. They have tutorials for you to learn from that are free as well. The best thing for you to do is to go to Freewebs, sign up, design your site and start learning. You will learn the basics from just designing your site from there, and then expand on it. They also have great explanations on how to create your keywords and metatags etc. . . You will learn alot there. Good luck! If you want to, check out my website at Freewebs: www.creatorstouchcards.com. Renae

I have found that i just get plain "builder block" when it comes to building a website from the ground up. For me, it has been easier to utilize the free website templates that are available in different places on the internet. For the most part, you can change them to your liking. However, it is important that you read the Terms for the site that you plan to use the free template. Some sites do not allow usage of free templates on websites that are business oriented or are making a profit of some type. I have even bought website templates or scripts from ebay and then have customized them to my own liking. An example would be the site in my profile. This particular site is always a work in progress :)

Their are many tools and softwares but you have to be a little creative inspite of only learning and writing down the long HTML or DHTML codes. You can use Coffeshop but after using it, it will make you addict and you won'r be able to learn the real code writing which is the real base of web page designing. Try Microsoft Frontpage, it will write the HTML all by itself in the background and will ask you only to have a creative mind in frontline.

First of all you need to have a domain and web hosting, try free web hosting and domain first. Secondly, all you need to do is to make up your mind that which sort of web site do you want to built? (example: Flash, Html, Java Script) for this all you have to do is to learn the basics of these languages I don't think that you can make a website on flash, html or in java script this often! You just try to make a simple web site if you want to but I recommend you to make a blog first by visiting this page www.blogger.com OR www.blogspot.com you can make your own blog totally free and it will either help you to learn basics. I wish you very best of luck for your website and have a good day. Happy earings!

For the designing of site, HTML is enough til you wnt the complex/database oriented site. For simple n static site, HTML is used. if u wnt to connect the simple site to the database i.e MS-SQL then you hve to use PHP. Even I cn paste the html coding here but I really think you shuld do ur own. but you could go to learning site for HTML first.

You don't actually need to learn any programming at all to build your first website. All you need is the software. I would recommend Dreamweaver... but if you have Frontpage... it is good enough to get you started. While you don't need to learn programming... you need to learn how to use the software. It will take you a long time before you are confortable with it. Every software is different... and for this reason... it is better to start with the right one. You don't want to spend your time learning Frontpage... and in two years time... start all over again... having to learn Dreamweaver. If you have Windows Professional... it comes with its own server... and permits you to build a website on your own computer... it is called "Intranet". Your very own internet. To build a webpage quickly... the easiest way is to use a table with rows and columns. This permit you to position text and objects on your page... exactly where you want them. If you plan to have many pages... you should create a template. This will save you a lot of work and it will keep all your pages looking the same. As you progress through the weeks... you will learn to look at the html coding of your pages and learn what those codes do on your pages. Once you are confortable with html... the next step is to learn about CSS programming. CSS reduce the amount of coding in your pages and make them load faster. You don't need to learn Java unless you intent to turn professional. There plenty of java websites where you can download hundred of little java programs ready made. All you have to do is to add them to your html pages. PHP is usually used to connect to databases. While similar to html... it is different enough to force you to learn it.

There is a ton of information about building your web site on the internet. You need to know however that in this case especially rome was not built in a day. Sense it is your dream I assume you want the biggest and best some day. In the field of computing there is never ever enough to learn. There is always something to learn and something that has changed and that is what makes it exciting. Start simple and you will have no problem. HTML is the basics behind all web pages. You know that and you can build a pretty nice one. But there is so much more to learn and just take one step at a time. Try out the following link. See if it is right for you. At worse you can get some free software. http://www.coffeecup.com

I think you can choose ASP or PHP. And if you have higher experience and technology, you may choose ASP or PHP. And if you're a freshman, you can use Microsoft Frontpage to make some webpages. But if you want to build a greater site, you must use Dreamweaver (a product of former Macromedia, and Adobe presently). Also, you should refer to somt references concerning HTML/CSS/XML. And if you want to make dynamic pages, you may touch with techs about database like SQL SERVER\MYSQL\ACCESS. And at the end, you should know, experience is the most thing to approach success of web making! Consequently, you should make a lot of websites to achieve your aim.
