I just joined a cat lover's newsletter at petplace.com. There is an article about keeping a record book for your cat,( just like you used to for your kids)so if there is an emergency, people know how to care for your pet. I think it is an excellent idea. You could even make a copy and put it in your emergency kit the Red Cross recommends. It is a good website.

Well, I think that it is very important that if you have pets that you keep a record of what is going on with your animal, that way when you have to visit a vet that it would be very easy to answer questions that the vet may ask you.

Sasha - On a special diet
That is an interesting concept. My 5 cats are all microchipped, so that if they got lost, or were in an accident, and taken to a Vet, they would be able to trace me. And they also all wear a medallion on their collars with their name, and my mobile phone number. This is a good idea though, because some cats (like my Sasha) have special dietary needs, so it is a good idea that other people should know in case of emergencies. Thanks for posting.

Thank you Garden Gerty. I just rated you again with a + for this post. Very good. Great thing to do for our little furry children. After all, they are our family too.

That's a good idea. We should keep records of all of our pet's daily requirements in case of emergency. I have it all written in down in a three ring binder so I can add and remove things as they change. Also that's good to have in case of evacuation. Here is some information on : Emergency Pet Preparedness Emergencies come in many forms, and they may require anything from a brief absence from your home to permanent evacuation. Each type of disaster requires different measures to keep your pets safe. The best thing you can do for yourself and your pets is to be prepared. http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer?pagename=pets_emergency

This is a nice idea. For us cat lovers it is important to keep records of our loved ones... this makes it easier for vets to follow treatment, or in an emergency, know important info about our cat. Good Idea and thanks.

What is the website, I only have a local cat and sometimes it gets sick, but as they say cats have nine lives. Cats are really great pets and they are very sweet. We have 7 cats at home actually the five were kittens 4 pure white and one colored tiger.

This is an excellent idea!! Especially for those whose pets are under a vets care, or require special diets or are on medication. I never thought of doing this before. I have a file in my filing cabinet with all my vet receipts and information for my personal keeping. But this is really important. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Great discussion topic!
