I love making purses. I used to sell them in high school. What is your favorite thing to sew?

I lke to sew reenactment clothes for the 17th and 18th centry.I also like to sew horse show clothes for my daughter for her horse shows. I used to make all my own clothes when I was in high school and made my own wedding gown. I made the gown that my daughter wore to 8th grade graduation.I had to totally design and hand stitch it because it was satin and it will run sometimes on the sewing machine.I also beaded it. What kind of purses do you make? Raydene

My mom used to make denim jackets with fabric for the sleves. They came out real nice...

I'm still just starting out, so most of what I've done is simple things like pillows, drapes, valances, etc. I'm branching out though -- I've done one skirt and I'm planning another (looking for the right fabric right now). You should post a picture of the purses you used to make -- I bet they're cute!

I love to sew. I make things to sell in a local craft mall. Placemats, table runners, basket garters, dog bandannas, pillows, blankets, denim purses, etc. You name it I have probably made it. But for the last few years my favorite things to make are my daughter's competitive roller skating outfits. They did not start out being a favorite of mine, but I hung in there and learned. It is so rewarding. Between her three coaches, my daughter and myself, we design it, and draw a picture. Then I make the dress. Then one of the coaches daughters, who studies art in college helps me design the stoning and beading. I then glue each individual stone on the dresses, in the patterns we have decided on. One of her dresses has 20 gross of stones on it. But my reward is to see her skate at National competition in a beautiful, and very unique outfit. I love to hear what people say about the dresses also. Believe me sometimes it is not good, but most of the time the judges like them.

I love to sew skirts. They are really easy to make. I brought some fabric Saturday, and I will be making two skirts this weekend.

My favorite is making rag quilts. I've made quite a few of them and they all turn out so cute! I just finished one that I donated to a benefit for a cousin of mine whose 4 year old daughter has an inoperable brain tumor. I'm hoping they make a lot of money from it.... I also have made purses, but I enjoy making the quilts more. I've made outfits for the kids, but their favorite are the sleep pants that I make. They enjoy picking out the material and having several pairs to wear!

Well all I can say - is I admire you, becasue I cannot sew or do anything like that at all! When I was at school I was always coming bottom of the class at anything to do with needlework, art, or handicrafts! I am naturally clumsy, and can't do anything practical at all! I would love tp be able to make stuff - but it's just impossibe for me, so anyone that can do it, has my total respect! Cheers.

Actually five years ago to be precise, l use to sew shirts and give them to my friends without collecting money,l guess the joy of it was watching them wear my product.

What don't I like to sew!!??!!! LOL! I have been sewing up a storm lately. PJ's for my kids seems to be the highest on my list. I love it when they help pick out the fabrics and tell me just how they want the design. We end up with some really cool concoctions. I've also been sewing Barbie clothes, quilts, and trying to make a coil rug. (BIG CHORE!!!) I can't wait until I find a few minutes to work on my projects again. Just not today. :( Sounds like your purses are fun to make. Maybe I'll have to give those a try, too! Have you seen those little girl purses made entirely of zippers? They are so cool, and I'd really like to try making one of those. Sigh. TOO many projects, not enough sewing space. LOL!

During my school days I had learnt a bit of sewing and made a couple of wall hangings with that. But, since then both lack of interest from my side and also a lack of time has restricted my sewing habits to only sewing the broken buttons on my favorite shirt or stitching a small tear in my dress. Cheers! Ram
