I received an email this morning from new website about pets I joined. Thanks to a discussion which posted the link). I read this article and although I knew about some animal parts being used for dog food, as they are in human food, but this really bothered me. What is your opinion?? Is Your Dog a Cannibal? The city of LOS ANGELES alone, for example, sends some two hundred tons of euthanized cats and dogs to a pet food plant every month.
Not only is this immoral and disgusting... it's deadly.
The true horror is the drug used to kill these stray and abandoned animals, Sodium Pentobarbital, is not broken down by the manufacturing process and is still present in active form in your dog's food!!And dog food companies don't stop with pets, your dog is also eating euthanized animals from zoos, animal control and putrid, decaying road kill.
All of these dead animals and other ghastly materials are processed until the portion left over for dog food production is a brown powder, which consists of ...

And there I was, thinking that there were strong legislations in place to prevent this kind of thing. I must be naive! Anyway, this is absolutely appalling. We live in a world where we should know better and prevent this kind of procedures that will only propagate existing diseases and cause new ones to appear. Remember how the BSE epidemic started.

Wow now even our Dogs are not safe anymore. How can we know which one is like this and which one isn't? I mean Gissi will only eat one type of Dog Food (as he is spoilt and fussy,lol) but how do I know it is not that one. Surely in can only be the Cheap Brand food?

I think the website stopped short of listing which ones are the most dangerous due to potential lawsuits. I also think the cheaper brands may be the worst. Perhaps we will get more responses regarding this question.

i find this entire thing of using euthanized animals to feed its own kind totally disgusitng. How can these god food manufacturer justify this. Since im from india i have never used ready made dog food but am still affected by the photograph uploaded to this post. Its good to be aware of all what is happening

I'd be interested in seeing the link to this information myself. I'm involved with matters that deal with animals and would like to get more facts so that I can perhaps make some groups aware of this and see what we can do to get things changed.

I would like to have this link as well to read this for my self. This is awful, I don't understand why they do such things? It does make my stomach turn to the point of tossing up my cookies! I guess this is why my vet recommeneds the science diet.

is that true, geez...i didnt know that until now.i thought the dog food only contains a custom meat such as chicken or beef.because of course they didnt write down that dogs or cats part even if they using it.my dog never eat from a dog food can or anything like that, i provide the food myself so its healty and 100% not canibal

Oh my gosh, that is horrible. What on earth will be next. What is wrong with humans? I would only feed them dry, and read those ingrediences, and hope they were honest. Othewise, start making my own food. I gave you another + rating for your post. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, even though it is so distubing.

It is something similar to this that has caused the problem with mad cow disease. Ground animal protein from diseased animals has led to a huge increase in susceptibility to this brain disorder. The reason people need to avoid this same thing is because of the disease being related to Creutzfelt-Jakobs disease-- a disease that mimics alzheimers in humans. It is awful and unconsciouable.

wow,this is really sicking.an i just got done eateing..lol there should be a way to stop this from happening.did your email say what company is doing this..i dont have a dog to feed, but i wouldnt want to see any animal to eat this kind of food..the animal right group should protest this in los angeles.they are killing animals to feed others animals."someone needs to suit the city.to stop this.

This is absolutely disgusting. Many people would be hugely distressed if they knew their beloved pets remains have been used in this way.
Also is the fact that dogs on pet food using this so-called product, are being fed a deficient diet.
And the worst part is the chemical being used, which could be present in the dogs food.
Is there a law about stating the exact type and quantities of ingredients used in pet food? There is here.
If a company breaks the law, and falsely states the ingredients, they would be in huge trouble.

Also I have read of the kind things but one says " dog not eat dog ", do not believe these things.
Maybe the man does mangimi but the meat is treated, and dogs do not notice, mine is boring in eating, often does not eat neither mazo, however he eats only a food brand for dogs, I wonder, if only queelli what does not eat contain canine meat .... . that skifo, have just finished breakfast.

I'm sure the guy embellished a bit because he wants his book to sell. But I do believe it's all true. No matter how little or how much it's exagerated It's just plain gross. No matter how you look at it it's pretty sickening if you ask me...No one can eat safely anymore..not even a dog....sad isn't it?

This is repulsive. Does it list what companies use this in their foods? I will not buy them if I know what brands or companies they are. This should definitely be something that everyone is aware of. I would not expect something like this in our country.

That is horrible. We love our pets and have been thinking all this time that what we feed them when we buy food for them that they are getting top notch food. I hear all the time don't feed your animal table scraps after reading this table scraps for my animal sound pretty dog gone good. I think that these places have got to be awful dog gone immoral. Any one who could do this to an animal has got to be heartless. I wonder if the people who are the head of this have animals themselves. They can't possibly!

and i am only have arowana fish, cat and bird
so if i have dog like thats i will sell or kill cause don`t like dog canibal huh!!!
