Hi, I am 44 yars of age, and I find myself currently addicted to watching Spongebob Squarepants. I enjoy the silliness it offers and the escape from reality. My favourite Sci-Fi programs on cable got moved to a special channel that costs more, Bah. Anyone here also enjoy a laugh at watching spongebob, or am I just a sick cookie, depraved from my normal viewing habits of Star Trek and SG1.

I've never heard of the program Spongebob Squarepants. Where is it from? Am I missing a good comedy, because I love comedy. More details please.

It's a cartoon based under the ocean. The main characters are a sponge, starfish, crab, squid and a lot of fish.

Hi there, well, I think you are missing out for sure. I just noticed at the bottom of this page, 'Similar Discussions' that there heaps of folks like me that enjoy Spongebob. Do you remember how funny the 'Flintstones' were when you were a kid. This is probably a bit sillier. I can see a nice picture of Spongebob at the bottom of the page on someone else's discussion. I tried to download cartoons from the net, but nickelodeon have removed them from their site "wahhhhhhh". I must find out if it can be gotton on DVD.

ADDITION, Spongebob's friends are, Patrick the starfish, Patrick is about as dopey as they come, 19 cents short of 2 bob if you know what I mean. Squidward the Squid, lives next door to Spongebob in a house that looks like one of those giant stone heads from easter island, in a town called Bikini Bottom, under the sea. Patrick lives under a rock on the other side of Squidwards house. Spaongebob and Squidward work at the 'Krusty Krab'. making 'Krabby Patty' hamburgers for Mr. Crab, who's only concern in the world is money, to the point of freaking out if a penny vanishes. Spongebob's house is actually a giant pineapple. If anything is going to go wrong, or something bad is going to happen, it will always happen to Squidward first, no matter what the chances were or who else is standing right next to him. (Spongebob laughter Ahhh ha ha ha ha ha ha ha)

My kids watch Spongebob all of the time. And I just have to monitor what they watch...so I watch too. :) I've heard that this is the last year that they will make new ones though. I like the series better than I did the movie. It's the pits that SG1 is cancelled after this season too. The new ones should be starting soon.

Hi, thanks for that, I hope you get a giggle every now and then and laugh with the kids. If this is what happens when they take away your favourite Sci-Fi's, it's not so bad. :-)

Oooh, I forgot to mention Sandy the squirrel. Sandy lives in an air dome with a tree in it down the road. She has to wear a scuba outfit to visit her friends because they breathe water, they have to wear a fishbowl full of water when they visit Sandy.

Hello VKXY, there is nothing wrong with you liking Spongebob at 44! People of all ages watch it and I have many family members who love him. He's a really funny character and easy to fall in love with because he's so cute. He's got some great, funny shows the little fella. :)

Ahhh, that makes me feel much better. Knowing that I am not alone in my likings for this cartoon, at least in some minds, is comforting. Boy oh boy, do I get a ribbing from my friends on that one, but a few times when I have mentioned it and they have rubbished me, A bystander has put in their two bob's worth and admitted they like it too. Ha, so I'm not the only, eh, normal person on the planet.

bob squarepants is definetly one of the most easy-going things to watch.I wouldnt define it as "silly" because it features some eclectic surreal humour (ok sometimes)

Yes, you are correct about that bit, I've only really noticed it once, Spongebob was watching the tube and on it was this sea anenome swaying back and forth and this drum music, Spongebobs tongue was starting to hang out and Gary said 'meow', well, Spongebob got a fright and hit the roof, changing channels at the same time, ahhh ha ha ha ha ha.
