How much do you Love your Pet?

Dog - Doggie Revival?

A retired Air Force pilot saved the life of one of his "best buddies" by using mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. It didn't matter that Lucy is a 10-month-old English bulldog. As Randy Gurchin put it, "Once you get a pet, it's truly part of your family." Lucy had jumped into a partly frozen lake in Nebraska in pursuit of ducks and geese, but the water was too cold. So, Gurchin pulled her out. But she was unresponsive and her face and paws were blue. So, he closed her mouth, put his mouth over her nose, breathed air into her lungs and pushed on her chest. She soon began taking shallow breaths. Gurchin drove to a veterinarian, where the dog was immersed in warm water, given injections and placed in an oxygen tent. By Friday, a week after her ordeal, Lucy was back to normal, said Gurchin, a pilot who retired from the Air Force two years ago. You can see the story here http://www.koat.com/family/11221399/detail.html Wow! How much do you love your pet? Would you give them mouth to snout revival? I think I would perform this on my cat. I don't know if I would on a dog though.

I think I would try to save my babies even mouth to snout... I had a dog one time that ate a penny a dime and a nickel it was stuck together with gum. We had a garage sale and someone dropped it. Anyway my Dog got zink poisoning and 1 blood transfusion, 1 visit to childrens medical to pick up a special med. 1 call to the poison control center and $700 dollars later she was alright.... I was so upset. But she came out ok.... I had to watch that dog all the time , she was always trying to eat things normal dogs wouldn't.....

Wow I am glad she made it, she must be a tough dog! $700 is a lot of money to spend on a pet but I would spend it in a second if it ment saving my fur baby Bug (cat).

Good for that Air Force Pilot!!! I am glad that he knew what to do in the situation and did not panic or give up because she was not responsive. Yes, I would give my dogs mouth to snout. I have seen it done on some survival TV shows and would totally do it if I was faced with the situation. Not sure where to push on the chest for the dog...but I sure would try to do that too if I thought it would help and not hurt my dog. It is nice to read real stories with happy endings. Thanks for sharing!

wow that is amazing, I would like to think that I would do that for my animal. I love it just as much as any human. An animal becomes part of the family just like your kids. I am my cats mother my son is their father and that is the way life is.

I have a rabbit that means the world to me. She cost $5.00 at a flea market and I see more rabbits hopping around where I work all the time, but my Charlotte is special. She's a brave rabbit, she plays with other animals that are much bigger than she is and she will even give you kisses if you're lucky.

A happy ending to a much loved dog. I don't think you actually think about things when you are these sort of situations you just do it and think later. I would do in a heartbeat and not even think about it as I love my 2 dogs so much. I think most people would too if they loved their pets (no matter what they were)

Well, I hope my dogs will never need resuscitation as I wouldn't like the idea of doing it. I think I would seek some help before I would even attempt it, but if all else failed and I had no other option, then yes, I think I would have to do it, if it meant saving my dog's life.
