I am from Norway, and we do not have capital punishment. I am very happy about that. The longest sentence here is 21 years in confinement. I do not think longer and harsher punishments are better for keeping law and order. I think it is much more important what the punishment contains. people need to be taught the proper skills to function as a productive law abiding part of society before released. Capital punishment seems more liuke revenge than punishment to me. i do not go for the eye for en eye idea.

There is no capital punishment in Canada. However, there is much debate about it every so often. Consider that someone is serving life in prison with no chance of parole.... What is to stop him from murdering a prison guard on other inmate? Why should he care? What will they do to him? Add 20 years to a life sentence???

Well some crimes are so heinous that there is not other punishment for them. There is capital punishment in India and for some crimes I do support capital punishment.
