Stress and Keeping it Cool...

I have always prided myself of having a cool head but I noticed lately that I seem to loose my temper and my patience much too easily. I have been like this since January wherein I have been under a lot of stress in my work and personal life. I am the type of person who always feel bad and guilty after I get impatient or loose my temper. So as much as possible, I try to distress myself by doing positive things, take a lot of walk and by making a point of having at least an hour a day to have a time for myself alone to clear my mind, meditate and relax. How about you? How do you cope with stress?

I am known for being very laid back and I guess for the most part I am. Sometimes I think it is that very reputation that makes it even harder when I do lose my cool and trust me I do. When I lose my cool ...everyone freaks out.I end up feeling bad about myself and guilty even if my reasons were justified. I notice that people that lose their tempers and patience regularly are treated by others differently and also don't seem to harbour as much guilt. They are not the ones that will be going on walks and trying to meditate etc. I think rather than worry about your temper, you should try to find out what is causing the stress in your life and maybe make some changes there. Whenever I have been so stressed that I find myself snapping at the wrong people and feeling guilty it is when I've really had to kick back and make some serious changes in my life. I don't know what is causing your stress but i'll bet your temper is a good indicator that you need some change!

I do think that you are right. I am not normally like this and I seldom loose my temper. I am known for my cool and fairness in dealing with people and difficult situations. But last year there was a very bid event in my life that caused me so much stress and hurts. I keep on showing to those people depending on me that I am just okey and i guess, it manifested in other ways. Thanks for your very good suggestion. I did make some changes, though it is not easy but as they say, it is a step in the right direction. Thank you very much for your very enlightening response.

At times, I loose my temper and feel guilt after that and will apologise to feel beter. I use a method of telling the person that I am not in the mood or frame of mind right now, will get back to him or her, thus this help me to cool down and think about it before getting back. It is like taking a break and when you are ready then talk or discuss about it again with the person.
