I live in NC. My husband died in May and there were still co pay amounts owed to his physicians. He had no estate and no insurance. Am I responsible for those debts? I have heard conflicting opinions.

I'm no expert or anything, but that's the main selling point of all of the life insurance commercials. "You don't want to leave expenses behind for your loved ones..." If he had had all kinds of money you didn't know about, it would go to you unless otherwise stated in a will. Unfortunately, it works the same way with any debt that he accumulated. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I hope everything works out.

as far as i know, if those debts were incurred during your marriage, yes you are partly obligated to pay. however, if those debts were prior, you're not. but i heard too that you can talk with your husbands creditors and negotiate, they usually give considerations in cases like yours.

I don't think you are, but you really need to talk to an attorney.
