Alot of parents out there give their kids chores. Laundry, dishes and yard work. Do you give your child chores? And do you pay them for it?

I think it is a very good idea to give children chores. It teches them responsibilty and it also gives them hands on training on learning how to do things. Children need guidance and they need to be shown how to do things in their daily lives. They will use those things and carry them through to their adult years. They will also know how to teach their children how to get things done. I think giving them an allowance is a good thing, but make sure not to spoil them. They need to also know that they need to help out around the home regardless if they get paid for it. Alot of families cannot afford to give an allowance but they can afford to treat them with other things.

I think every child should have chores, it teaches them responsibility on many levels. My kids are 6 and almost 4 and they both have chores that they have to do. They have some that are basic like keeping there room clean and making there beds and they are not paid for those. Then there are things like helping me with laundry or vacuuming and those type I do pay them for. I think having it that way they learn that in life there are things you may not like but it is just life and you have to. And paying them to go above and beyond rewards there efforts and gives them the chance to learn about the value of money and such.
