So the Democrats who oppose the US involvement in Iraq are trying to pass a bill forcing a pullout in fall 2008...fall2008, just in time for Presidential elections! If you oppose the war, that's fine. If you think we're not supposed to be there, then do what you have to to get us out. But putting soldier's lives in danger for political gain is disgusting and outrageous. This kind of behaviour is absolutely unacceptable. Our soldiers are not pawns in some political game!!!

It goes further than that. The Emergency Funding (to pay for armor and other ESSENTIAL items) only passed out of committee after the following were attached: 75 Million for Peanut storage in Georgia 25 Million for Spinach Handlers and growers 60 Million for Milk Income Loss Contracts These are just a few of the many many many pork projects that had to be attached to pass.

I had heard that the total price for pork may go into the Billions by the time they are done. We need a strong president with a line item veto who will communicate with the people the pork he is vetoing. We need a president who can communicate his ideas to the people. I think the people will listen to the truth. Most already beleive the media is bias and is willing to listen when someone speaks the truth. Do you know a good consitervie who could communicate.

It is interesting that some of the very people who voted in favor of going into Iraq have now turned their coats inside out and have decided to oppose the war, stating that they were misled and lied to. This of course has only occurred after the war has lost popular support by the American voters. The pork that is being added onto the appropriations bill is typical of the pork loving Demoncrats, and is doubly bad after their criticism of the Republicans for their pork spending. It is just a matter of more of the same being done by a different team, and that is the normal way of politics these days. What are the Dems going to do if they cause us to pull out of Iraq and it turns out that Bush is correct? Not only would they lose what little credibility they have left, but it might take awhile before they gain power again, if ever.

Well, it could simply be a coincidence. The Democrats have only been in control of Congress for a couple of months, and were left with the problem of trying to fix all the things the Republicans have screwed up. If you want to point a finger at a group for playing politics with our troops' lives, you need to look at the Republicans for that. Whether you agree with the war or not, it was suggested by our generals that we'd need to go in with 300,000 troops to keep the peace after the war was over. Bush and Co. thought that would hurt them in the elections somehow, so they only sent about half that number, and that has led to troop deaths. On top of that, there's all the cronyism that's been going on. They're sending unqualified (but Bush-loyal) people to manage certain affairs in Iraq, which has led to troop deaths. They're giving all the Iraq contracts to their friends, and in the case of Walter Reed Hospital, that's led to horrible treatment of our injured soldiers, which may have led to some deaths which occurred after the soldiers were supposed to be safe at home. Well, I guess that wouldn't be called playing politics with our troops' lives as much as cashing in on them.
