What Time Do Your Kids Wake Up?

Man, I have known people who have said that their kids wake up around 9 or 10...HOW? I guess they'd have to keep/allow them to stay up late huh? I can't do that. The latest my 3 toddlers can stay up is 9. And that's pushin it. But no matter what time they go to bed, they always wake up at around 6:45 AM! It's kinda frustrating cause I try to get up earlier in the morning to have that quiet awake time...but that never happens. It's like they have mom's already awake radar!! My husband gets up at 5:45 and I try to get up by at least 6. Then I wake up the boys and get them off to school, as quietly as possible. Then Brian leaves at 6:30. Unfortunately for me, the garage is directly underneath the twins bedroom...so I think that wakes them up automatically!! I'm gonna make him start parking in the driveway! LMAO! I guess I'm getting used to it...however an extra hour or two of peace would be nice. :)

Children need at least 8 hours of sleep, and adults need not more than 6, so equations can be made accordingly. EARLY TO BED, EARLY TO RISE is the best policy according to me !

You know, I agree. And I do find that I often function better on less than 8 hours of sleep. Any more than that and I'm worthless! I guess it's just a matter of sticking to a good schedule...which is kind of hard to do in my household. But I think it's getting a lot better. As getting up at 6 doesn't seem to bother me as much as it used to. Thanks!

I totlay agree here to if I sleep in or have long sleep I get up feeling grumpy and just as tired. I have 3 kids the older 2 are in bed by 8pm they are 7and 8 years and my youngerst is 2 he falls asleep with me on the sofa but they all wake up between 7-8am I don not mind this in summer when the morning are light and sunny I hope but in winter here in scotland is cold and dark at this time and you really want to stay in bed.

Oh my goodness I hate that...my twins do the same thing...although I guess it doesn't matter, 2 of them are already up, might as well be all 3. But one of my twins always runs to my youngests room to wake her up as well. lol

I put my 2 children to bed at 8:30 p.m. on the weekdays and they get up at 7:00 a.m. with alot of coaxing...LOL. On the weekends they get to stay up til 9:00-10:00p.m. but rarely do they ever stay up that late. I let them sleep in as late as they want on weekends but it's not very late usually before 7:30 a.m. I told them its the weekend, sleep in, not hurries, (so I can sleep in, LOL)but they never do. Oh well....LOL

Yea...that would be nice huh? I wish I could tell my kids to sleep in...don't think it work tho. I'm not even sure that I'd want it to, because they say you should always stay on the same schedule, whether it's the weekend or not. Thanks for reading!

My two year old sleeps about 12 hours a night, sometimes more but he doesn't normally take naps anymore. If he has had a particularly eventful day then he will sleep very late if we don't have to go anywhere the next day. He is rarely up before 8 o'clock in the morning. I often have to wake him myself, he just really likes his sleep, although I have noticed if he has a new toy or a new dvd he will get up a bit earlier than usual and go straight for that. It is great that he's such a good sleeper at the moment but it could change at anytime so I'm making the most of it :)

My youngest wakes between 5 and 7! I have tried keeping her up late but it doesn't work. She still gets up as early no matter what time she goes to bed. I also know some littluns that wake up late and go to bed early but mine never have. I think that is something that comes with age! My eldest would easily lie in bed until nine or ten oclock.

during weekdays when there is school, the kids wake up around 8am because their classes start at 10am, but during weekends (no school), i let them sleep until 9 or 10am.

I recall when I was little I woke up earlier on weekends too cause of cartoons. Like 6 am or maybe earlier! *L* I dont recall my bedtime growing up but I think if they are under 4 like 7 or 8 isnt too early. My bedroom is over the garage, and its SO annoying when I hear the garage door open almost every day it like wakes me up. And I am not even a little kid. Ah you have twins. How great! :))

I have a little one that usually goes to bed at 8 but never later than 9. She almost always sleeps 12 hours, maybe 10 hours on bad days. This includes 1 potty time in the middle of the night! She usually wakes up at 8 or a little later. We use sleep machines, that make white noise so little noises are cars don't wake us up! :)

I guess it depends on their routines & age etc. My daughter is 9 months old now & since about 5-6 months, she's had a great routine, she's in bed by 8:30pm & she'll wake up anywhere from 7am - 9am - usually it's around the 7:30-8 mark though so she'll get at least 11 hours sleep. However, if i am up earlier to do something she will wake up when she knows i'm up so that Mum's already awake radar is definitely a possibility!

Very true, an hour or two of peace is fine. an hour or two of time which is for myself alone is better.( Well, i need that extra time to meditate, waken my senses, think and plan ahead for the day.) I wake up at 4am no matter if i slept late the night before. I need to prepare food and the kids' needs and they get up at 5am for the school service that picks them up at 6am. This is my daily wake up time on weekdays. And on days where there arent classes, i wish i could sleep more and wake up late. But, my kids have gotten used to waking up early! It must have been in their system already. So, whether weekdays or weekends..the kids are normally up early. Poor me...not that i am complaining but dont you wish, you could have some xtra time in bed?Anyway, thats what a mommy is from Manila, Phils.
