How vain are you?

Okay, let's face it. Everyone has their own vain side no matter how simple one seem or claim to be. So let's see. I consider myself a low maintenance gal. I don't do make up much, just pressed powder-foundation, lipstick and eyebrow pencil- these are the essential contents of my vanity kit. Sometimes I throw in a cheek tint, and when I'm going to a party that's the only time I use the eyeshadow. I don't blow dry or iron my hair or get hair treatment. I get a haircut twice or thrice a year, the most. I don't polish my nails. I don't do facials. I don't spend much on the beauty stuff. However, what I consider to be the 'vainest' that I always do is to buy plenty of pretty high heeled shoes that I don't even get to wear often and end up getting cobwebs in my shoe closet. They're not pricey though, as I get them discounted on sale. I just love wearing and seeing them on my feet. They make me feel like royalty :) How about you? To what extent has vanity brought you?

I guess you could say I'm vain, but not about beauty! I'm OK with how I look, but I'm vain about my brain! lol. Ever since I first heard the quote from Sojourner Truth about how it is not the size of one's "cup" that determines one's capacity, but whether the cup is full or not, I've devoted as much time as possible to exercising my mind, so I think I'm entitled to a bit of vanity there. As for beauty, now that we are retired, I pretty much live in T's, shorts, and sandals, and I cut my own hair and do my own nails, but I guess you could say my one cosmetic vanity is trying to keep my nails nice. Not always, but usually I take the time to give them a French Manicure, but mine is special because I use glow in the dark paint for the tips.

Wow! I think being vain about your brain is a better vanity than being obsessed with looks. I think it's a more substantial and productive practice that everyone must do and benefit from. Thanks for your unique response. :D

i dont focus much on vanity, i just see to it that im clean. i dont do facials but i freak out everytime a experience pimple breakouts. when it comes to hair care, i see to it that i go to salons every 3 months for hot oil or hair spa treatments, when it comes to nails, i clean my own nails, and i want it short and clean.

I think that's what's important yamskee, being clean and treating ourselves to some pampering every now and then. :)

My make up consists of liquid make up, blush and lipstick or gloss. My clothes are the type you just throw on and go. I like to be comfortable. I guess i don't care what others think of me. I am a good person and if you don't wanna know me for who I am inside then thats your problem. So I guess as far as outwardly I'm not too vain. On the inside I love myself and the way I am.

Very well said mssnow. :) I hope people can give more importance to what's on the inside, than how they appear on the outside. Personally, I don't care too what others think of me. What they see is what they get. :)

In my point of view living simply is the best because simplisity make look like truly beauty not those who prepare them selves for others, i think beauty is natural not artificial
